    Hi guys,

I am in the market for a black CGT and am hoping for some pointers on trading prices for these cars. I have located both a mint 7000mi car as well as a 1000mi one. Asking price is 409k for the 1000mi car and 329k. The higher mileage one has 29.9 on the clutch and clean PPI / service records from porsche dealer, and full clear bra (entire car) since day 1 so everything looks great.

I am tempted to go with the higher mile car as I think there is good value there, but what should I be paying these days? And any thoughts on what the 1000mi car is worth (also totally clean, 2 owner)

    feel free to pm.

    Thanks!

A few months back Fantasy Junction had one with 18K on the clock LISTED at $259K. Needless to say, it has been sold. Perhaps it was priced at what they're actually selling for instead of the inflated asking prices?? You might want to give them a call to get their take on the market. Here's the link to the old add:

    http://www.fantasyjunction.com/cars/910-Porsche-Carrera%20GT-5.7%20Litre%20V10

Here's a link to a bunch of CGT's for sale around the world:

FYI, if you're shopping in the CGT price range, for less money Fantasy Junction has among other gorgeous cars, a Daytona & a stunning Aston DB4 Supperleggera that are worth a look.

Thanks for that lead, I did give them a call. The 2004 car they had had some 'stories', nothing terrible but it had various parts replaced due to a flat tire that ruined the undertray and the front end.

I was told the right price for an 05 with mid 6-7k miles is in fact in the low 300 .. so not that far off from the one I am looking at.

    any other feedback appreciated!

That Fantasy Junction car had a lot more stories than they disclosed to you.

I haven't been in this market since Spring 09 when I bought my current one.

    1000 mile car, I'd be a buyer at 350

    7000 mile car, 300.

The thing that I've found about the cgt market is that the price of these cars is exceptionally sensitive to mileage.

I think your prices are about right for silver cars, they unfortunately do not appear to be trading prices for black ones. My data is indicating that dealers are purchasing these low mile black cars in the 37x,000 range, and moving them around 385-390k

I agree for the 7000 mile car, but prob closer to 315ish. The mileage premium seems to be about 10k/1000mi, and the 'base' price to deduct from depends on the color. Black carries about 20-25k premium, and 2004 is about 15-20k discount to 2005.

Its a little bit unfortunate that the market discount for mileage is so stiff on these cars, its hard to not have that in the back of your mind somewhere when you are driving the thing yourself ..

Interesting. You're almost dead on for what I bought my Basalt 05 7k mile car for 15 months ago. Prices haven't moved very much. Wish I could say that for my f-cars!

I just sold my 04 Silver/black with 19,000 miles for $225, very clean car- took me 4 months to sell. The market is soft beyond all belief! High mileage cars (over 10,000), $190-$225 is check writing money. Low mileage cars are $225-$300. And the super low mileage cars (under 2,000) still command a premium $350+

There was a standard black car for sale (on consignment) at our dealership in Louisville, KY. It was at the dealership for around 6 months until about a month ago (don't think it sold) with only 824 miles on the odometer!

Contact Bluegrass Motorsports (866-921-0932) for more information.

Sorry to sidetrack but any thoughts on where a SLR should go these days? if a high mileage CGT is low 200s i'd imagine high 160-190 for an SLR right? anyone sell one recently...there are TON available. I guess the SLS and Black series havent helped either

I am no psychic, but I suspect that the CGT and the SLR represent the finest supercar values on the market right now! With the exception of the Ford GT, there aren't many ways to get into a real supercar for less money. Despite the high numbers produced I imagine both of these cars will rise in value in the coming years. If I could afford one I would be all over it.

A local collector that I know of has one of each: Guards Red CGT and Silver SLR and they are the perfect pair

I have driven the Mclaren SLR many times, its a fine automobile possibly the easiest supercar to drive daily. The Carrera GT in its own right is a masterpiece but more of a track car.

The market for CGT's is soft...but I'm assuming all of them are listed (way) overpriced then? The cheapest I could find was 225K Euro, in the UAE. The closest one to that was 245 Euro.

There is no way a dealer will write a check for a $1,000 mile car for $370k, they might tell you that becuase they are trying to sell it to you at 409k but real check writing money from a dealer on a 1,000 mile car is 300-340k regardless of color unless maybe a paint to sample....blk is at most worth 10k more than silver if that and that is usually only in the retail market not wholesale
