Of course, not entirely possible to "tell" but it definitely appears as if they forgot about ingress and egress for the driver and passenger.

Judging by this photo it appears the door opens sideways and up and not enough to get out of the way unless you are limber...

And with all that came before, the doors were truly a benefit as they allowed you to park right next to walls and such because the door did not open "out" at all, just "up"...so, that's definitely gone now....

Having already seen the car, I suggest that people wait until they've seen it in the flesh to pass judgment.

Like any company's cars the 700 does incorporate styling cues from its previous cars. To use this year's Buzz word among car companies, the car shows its "DNA".

What really stuck out to me was the sheer rake of the windshield.

    From the www.aventador.com website
"According to its tradition, Lamborghini’s new flagship bears the name of a bull -- naturally, a particularly courageous specimen from the world of the Spanish Corrida. Aventador was a bull bred by the Don Celestino Cuardi Vides family that in October 1993 entered into battle at the Saragossa Arena, earning the "Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera" for the outstanding courage shown during the fight. "

    From an Autoblog article:
"In this case, reports have come in that Lamborghini has registered the name "Aventador" with the U.S. trademark office. The name has a number of divergent translations – including, appropriately, Spanish slang for kicking @$$ – but the most pertinent could be that of a thousand-pound Spanish bull that legendarily fought in and was named the bravest of the Plaza de Toros de Zaragoza."

I have gotten into the LP700 and it is easier to get in and out of than my LP640. The up and outward opening doors are for safety reasons of emergency ingress and egress after a rollover incident (possibly mandated by law in many countries)

I could not agree more... More importantly, this car has "grown" on me in desirability since I first saw it in December. Opinions are of course individual and personal but the ability of a design to grow on people has a big impact on the longevity of any given design. The Countach is a perfect example of the timeless nature of its design.

Must say I agree with this.

Also I wish the doors where more 'uppity-up' instead of 'out-a-bit-up', if you catch my drift :D.

I, for one, can't stop looking at this car. For me, Lamborghini has hit this one out of the park! I absolutely love it!!! I said in a previous post that I am a diehard Ferrari guy, and I still am, but the Aventador is making me see Lamborghini the way I did as a boy with the Countach! AWESOME!!!... Or was it Totally RAD, back then?? ;-)

I read it, should have multi-quoted it I suppose. It doesn't bother me much, I'm pretty sure everyone prefers the 'old' way the doors opened but hey...pushy government kill joys think different.

Its unclear to me what problem has been solved with the change. Do you have the source of this "mandate"?

Agree with you 100%, the two cars I looked most forward to seeing was the 612 Replacement and the Murci Replacement. I think Lamborghini definitely nailed it on this one and Ferrari blew it on the FF.
