    looks a bit rough...
    All CMM kits require a lot of scratchbuilding... The 250SWB looks better than this 333SP

    Next from AIRTRAX, the Ferrari 330/365 GTS in a 1/24th scale resin transkit. It is due very soon.

    Scale Designs is doing several new decal sheets. The first will be available at Ferrari Expo 2011 on March 19th. It is for the Carrera Panamericana Porsche 356 pre A cars. They will
    fit the 1/24th scale Fujimi 356A kits with some small modification. The cars are the 1952 356 #11 cabriolet, 1953 Canada Shoes #151 and Guatemala #162. These decals are printed by Cartograf. The second sheet will be for the Alfa 1900TI's from Carrera Panamericana 1954 and will include 3 cars. It is for the very nice Quattroruote 1/24th scale Alfa 1900 diecast. Repainting will be required for 2 of the 3 cars on the sheet. The 3rd sheet is still to be announced but will have more 356's on it.

    I wanted to inform you that I have received their kit and there is a lot of improvements versus previous kits. No bubbles, good resin quality, I was defeneitely pleased !
    I know that there were some discussion on the forum recently and I wanted to share this info.

    I agree 100%. These kits are getting very nice . I only wish they would make them full kits.

    Here are several new Lolas and the Audi R15 in 1/24th scale by Profil 24.

    Just arrived is the second 1/24 scale kit of the Enzo Gemballa by APM. I guess the kit will be at the same level as the F50GT, it means terrific !

    Looks like a very nice kit. APM is really going to give other resin companies a run for their money soon. The quality is superb. I hope they listen to me about what cars they should do(all Ferrari's ofcourse!!!). I told them a 1964 250 GTO in 1/12th scale would be great along with a 1/24th 330 LMB. If you all agree with me email them :)

    That would require some modification.

    Airtrax does have some other cool 1/24th road Ferrari's coming out. I will say the 330GT 2+2 is one of them. It's also safe that Airtrax has found an area that no one will copy, atleast I hope they won't.

    Starting with the 330/365 GTS Airtrax will include vacuform windows. Casting quality is also getting much better. I think Alex should be happy.

    To be honest (and this is in no way a knock against Airtrax), I see their kits as a starting point anyway. They require donor kits, they are pretty rough on the insides, and while they are great in proportions and will make a stunning curbsides, to build a detailed model with opening panels, engine, etc, it will take much more...so...All in all, great stuff, but not for the inexperienced builders.

    You are right Alex. But, Airtrax provide us model cars which are absolutely unavailable elsewhere.

    Model Factory Hiro kits also need a lot of work. Many MFH kits have mistakes in body shape which need to be corrected to get build an accurate model.

    Indeed. What I was referring to is the fact that Airtrax kits need a whole bunch of other stuff that needs to be purchased in order to build a detailed model, while the likes of MFH supply almost everything required in the box. But you're right, it doesn't matter as nobody but Airtrax makes these cars, and their price is no MFH either (which in its turn kinda justifies paying for all the extra stuff), so its all good.

    And thats what its all about, getting models we would never get otherwise. These kits are very good starting points(transkits). I think Airtrax understands what we want and are trying to make their kits better with every release. I am hoping we will also get a 250 Lusso from someone this year. Atleast 3 have said they were thinking about doing the car. I bet Airtrax is the only one that comes through with it. They are also working on some exciting vintage Lancia's and early 1960's "Big engined" Ferrari road cars.

    I will have several new Airtax kits for sale at Ferrari Expo 2011.

    Well you know alot of people talk about projects for many years. Airtrax seems to be doing almost every model they announce quickly. I should have said the only one that comes through with it in the next 5 years:) I know I used to take forever to come out with my kits also. I don't hold my breath when a new company announces a project as I know all the problems that can come up before and during production.

    Me and Jerry have been working on it for so long. Everything is basically ready to go but I was hoping to have them cast in the US. Unfortunately it looks like I will have to send it overseas. It might be more expensive but I just can't wait for anyone to do anything in the US anymore.

    Well. this is really a nice "corner" on the matter of Modelling!

    I cannot express how happy I am that small-scale producers such as Airtrax exist, as someone already said here, they depict cars that would otherwise be unavailable from mainstream production, as they would not be viable when it comes to finance.

    I am the proud owner of two of their models, the Triumph TR4, and the Saab 96. I'm not very happy with the overall shape on the Triumph, but there is no alternative on the market, and scratchbuilding will give the final judgement on how good can I make it look on the end.

    The little Saab is perfect on shape, and detail, it is a beautiful little kit, even if one that will take a lot of work, as on these kits there is always a lot of trying, fitting, cutting, and even reshaping before it all ends. But, hey!...it is all well worth it!

    Also, being an admirer of the work of Mr Ettiene from Profil24, and I really am, as I own many of his kits by now, I cannot tell you how disapointed I was with the quality on the Porsche Panamericana coupé, the shape seemed all wrong, and fit of parts was only left to imagination. Not what I was expecting, and not what I am used to get from profil, maybe just an exception. Anyway, deep surgery was mandatory, and I will leave you a couple of pictures so that you can have your word on my work. I think it is now much closer to the real thing, but not yet finished.

    As market to some exception and rare cars seems to be "opening up" and new manufacturers come to life, I myself have been working on something of my own, not on the same kind of subject we've been discussing here, something very different, but also something I'd like to share with you.

    It is a Portuguese built 4x4 based on the French Cournil original, very popular among us during the 80's and also a car known for its good sucess on early Paris-Dakar, and other series of the kind.

    First examples will be delivered by the end of March, and production will be very limited, but it is a start for me. Scale is "off-limits" for our discussion here, as it is military scale 1/35, for a good reason, as our army used a lot of these cars and there are interesting conversions to be made.

    Anyway, I will leave with a link and some photos, it is my first trial on prototyping and mold-making/production, and also a first experiment on how good could I produce a small-production scale-model. Hoping you will like them.

    I am now considering moving on with different subjects, with the great fifties on my mind!
