As the title states, any recommendations for books to read for an aspiring private pilot?
I'm going to take some lessons soon and would like to prep myself as much as possible beforehand.

I've got a few picked out a Barnes and Noble but there are not many reviews.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    +1 for Stick & Rudder.
Best book for understanding relative wind and the basics of flight controls.
Plus it is an inspirational read.

Looks like the old Gleim test prep books have been replaced with test prep software:
    http://www.gleim.com/products/productdetails.php?proSell=PPKT+LIC%26REG

There are also free websites to prep for the test questions such as:
    http://www.exams4pilots.org/

The Gleim materials will likely have better explanations as to why the correct answer is the best one.

Most flight schools will sell you a Jeppesen Pilot Training kit with a test prep book within it:

    The sky.

Seriously, learn to read the sky: clouds, weather etc.

    Then get out and fly.

Then read the ground - helps with pilotage.

But, don't forget to read the sky. It is more important than relative wind when your on a cross country and need to navigate issues.

    Cheers.

On the lighter side - Airframe by micheal crighton.

Another good one also on the entertainment side is Fast Eddie, a great story on Eddie Richenbacher. (spelling)
