Very cool! I have to ask though, how cheap were the 2 cars??? I am currently playing with TIG on a 930, and building a frame to hold the car while I am doing the body work... When I first got the TIG, I absolutely hated it. Couldn't weld thin metal; to save my life. Then, I was building the frame stand of 1/4 inch mild steel. The TIG was an absolute dream. I acouldn't believe how easy it was to weld thicker steel. Reminded me of soldering... TIG definitely requires lots of skill, and clean metal... But the welds sure do look beautiful when done .
Not Cheap at all. Nothing Ferrari is cheap!. That is why I did this, I had all the parts. Just Imagine what I could do if I had some more space.
Good luck! I was just wondering at what financial point taking on this endeavor makes sense! I completely understand your reasoning to do this, as I am a do-it-yourself kind of guy too... Sent you a PM
If this was about money, than I would be out along time ago!, This is about passion! Im a Porsche guy also, unfortunately the Ferrari just elicits a different feeling, you just have to experience it. To answer question though, it does not make a wise financial move, for sure!

My transmission case had some damage so we are replacing the case. Thanks to very generous Ferrari Challenge car owner, Rich G. (you know who you are. Thanks, I am grateful) I was able to get the case from him at a reduced price. So here is the progress. The car only has 5800 miles, the gears and all internals are as new. Also, BIG Thank you Peter N. the man who can fix anything!
