He is right and it is easy. The most obvious is the license plate area. It is long and not very tall. On US cars it is the shape of a US plate. Lots of subtle differences: headlight washers, yellow in the center of the tail lights, etc.

I noticed the license plate thing but it has the American reflectors. A Euro car wouldn't have the reflectors...no?

Depends on the buyer's intent. Track use versus garage queen, versus DD?

Will the buyer want to resell ever, short-term, long-term?

Repairs done by reputable shop with all pre-salvage images & full repair bill?

$55K is asking -- maybe they'd take $50K (or $48K) and this car will go another 22K miles just like any other (or better).

What do you guys think of this car, because this car is the only reason I put my viper up on the market. I really love the color and the fact that its a spider, and rebuilt title doesn't bother me as long as it was repaired correctly. And if you guys say its the Euro version, could that possibly be because of the accident they just replaced some body parts with euro parts? If not what is so bad about the Euro version? I do not know much about these so any help is great!

Also when I spoke to him a few days ago, he said the "synchronizer" or something like that went out, and he said it still drives fine and he can fix it for another $2500? But he said the parts only $900? What does that do?

Oh and I plan on using this as a DD for the next 4-6 months (I live in the southwest suburbs or Chicago) so I would plan on selling it around October-November.

    Thanks!

The resources on this board are amazing. I learned as much as I could about these cars before I bought mine last fall after considerable enough research to know exactly what "euro" meant and it didn't phase me as my car is a euro. I'd know the part number of the synchro, where it is in the tranny and about how many hours of labor are involved if this is even needs replacement. To ask this car to be a DD.. can be done as the cars are very reliable.. it sounds to me like you might want to gather a tad more info about 360s.. then get someone who knows Fcars to definitively to an inspection.
I don't want to sound like a di$k. but I can see where this might turn into a headache if you get trapped by a car that needs too much that you don't anticipate or know about... my best wishes on this...

If a reputable mechanic checks the car out and gives you a reasonable estimate on what it will cost to fix what is wrong AND you intend to keep this car long term then this is a great buy.

If it runs well (PPI) who cares if it was wrecked. Its not an investment.

All depends on the PPI. If the mechanic comes back and tells you $20k in potential repairs then its not a good deal anymore.

Be careful, my car ran and drove just fine and still needed over $15k worth of work. Have a PPI done on the car.

Well I agree however we have already established it's a Euro, previously wrecked, salvaged title car with a gearbox problem (most likely that's the synchonizer he's talking about for the 6 speed).

Let's be honest here... it's pretty darn risky even without looking at it. I think it's fair to warn him what he's getting into.

Excellent advice. YOU may not be concerned with a salvage title, but how about the next buyer? Opinion on this thread should be a fair indicator.

When a Euro car is converted here, reflectors are part of the conversion process and are mandatory to get a realease from the DOT.

Regarding "euro" or not and forgive me if this is old news. why do you not just look at the 8th digit of the VIN? Letter A indicates US, left hand drive.

Thanks for all the responses, I would do a PPI on the car, but what does a synchronize do, and how much is it realistically do replace? I own a mechanics shop so I am not too concerned but never have had a Ferrari so I may take it to the dealer to get this done

I will get the vin tomorrow and post on here
