Countach, the ultimate supercar

I've visited Bob Forstners Lamborghini collection/museum here in Stuttgart this week and saw 3 Countach there. One was a 5000S and the other two were 25th Anniversaries. Here are some pictures

Your immediate clue with the Silvera car is the Gold trim (spats, bumper, wiper etc). On the Wolf car those items are standard black.

I visited UK-born Bob Forstner's Park Lane, London showroom the month before last. Impressive dedication to Supercars from this man.

the salesguy who was with me told me that they also have some cars at Park Lane and that some more will be there once they've moved to the new location in Stuttgart as that one will be too small for all cars.

Wow Joe, just loved the youtube vid even though I didn't understand a word of it.

For nothing more than curiosity,.... Does anyone know roughly how many Countach Historians exist around the world that invest large amounts of thier energy keeping track of these cars: *Locations, *S/N's, *Delivery mod's from the factory, *Original color and color changes, ect...

My hats off each of you, I love this thread more every day!

 

it's not only Countach historians, but Vintage Lambo Historians to consider... to my knowledge, about +/- 30 guys !

 

Thought you guys might like this from our local gathering last Saturday. The weather finally cooperated and we had hundreds of cars including about 15 from Italy including my 308 next to a beautiful Countach. There is also a silver Countach that usually comes out to play but not this weekend. Enjoy.

Surprised that the Lambo doesn't look that much bigger than the 308. I've always thought of the 308 as a relatively small car.

 

Injected car with euro front and rear ends..i love when owners do that.. I think it looks
great with the fuel injection style hood. He just needs to go on ebay and get a new hood strut and ditch the prop rod... ($20 bucks well spent)

Olivier your absolutely right about the entire group of vintage enthusiests. I mis-worded my question because of the thread title, but didn't intend to leave a very important group out.

 

The Countach appears to have a modified ignition and FI system. Looking at the shot from the rear (under the wing), it looks like an Electromotive ignition to the left, and the intake hoses don't run back to the K-Jetronic fuel distributors...

Also the dashboard was redone, the black part is almost as double as thick than original. Black speaker are also not original, the are normally covered under the leather.
From the side extension one can say it's a late 1986 or even MY 87 on.

I had the QV out for a run in quite country roads in Western Scotland today. About 280 miles all in. Some of us on a UK based car forum organise events and runs just for fun. The weather was mixed, mainly wet with bits of snow on higher ground but little lying on the road.
It is amazing what a good hard drive does for the car. After an effective 4 month winter rest it felt tight, brakes locking and unresponsive. By the end of the run just a different car! Due to the weather I wasn't being overly hard on the brakes and keeping away from a lot of other expensive mainly Porsche metal!
Had a great run back on almost deserted roads for about 70 miles with a 997 GT2. It's a stunning car and bloody quick as it should be with 525bhp!
I took along the 16y/o car fanatic grandson of a friend. He liked the GT2 but said it felt quiet and not as interesting as the QV!
Just great to be back driving her and looking forward to some better dryer weather to perhaps push her a bit more
As my young passenger said. 'when you overtake other cars it's as if they are all as slow as tractors'!
Come on guys
Get them out and start enjoying them!

OK I'm going to show my ignorance ...where did the air exit from after entering the intakes behind the doors? How did this concept work for cooling, did the air dump into the engine compartment?

 

They solved this problem with the traditional slat outlets you see on all Countachs today. Here is the LP500 minutes before its demise, sporting said outlets.

Ahhh ok so the earliest design pushed the air into the engine bay before the classic slats evolved, interesting. I enjoy seeing how progress was made! I'm sure read this years ago when I was a kid, it must be covered in dust now.lol

As far as the crash test...I can't look!
