I already have a 430 Scud, and I have the option to buy a 599 GTO. I have seen tests where the Scud is actually slightly faster on the track than a GTO (top gear). What would you guys do? Is it worth it to buy it, or buy a different car(s)?

keep the scud, seriously. It's such a better car than the GTO ... really.

... and sell me your option on the GTO.

it's the least i can do, to help :)

... or. consider that new lambo aviator (or whatever the hell it's called). way, WAY better than the GTO ... this was definitively established recently in another thread (if you disregard almost all of the posts, anyway).

I'm here to help. I'll take that GTO.

    :) :D

If you have the funds I would buy the GTO and decide if its for you(i know its 450k+). If it isn't, Im sure someone will be willing to buy it from you. It also depends on the intended uses. If you only plan to track the Scud then the GTO will be plenty fast on the street, or vice versa. I would go for the GTO, there aren't many Ferraris that bear the name.

Thats what I was thinking about selling it, but Ferrari pretty much told me that I can't sell it for however many years or else.

Back off Werewolf:)>)! Seriously, I had an 09 Scud that I sold when I got my GTO back in Jan. and unfortuantaly, I have not really had a chance to wring her out yet. First trackday is April fourth and believe me I'm counting the days. But from my limited experience...... engine noise that can shake the pilliars of heaven! Extremly well balanced and torque crazy. Drives and feels like a mid engine Scud. 2nd gen CCB's and a twelve cylinder jet engine. Extremely comfortable and easy to drive insanely fast with a power curve you can't believe. I have got to say it....If you want the best of the best......GTO hands down! Sorry Werewolf :)>)!

Oh, you can sell it, even soon after purchase--just don't expect to ever again be offered another special factory restricted car if you do so in the first year or so.

"Dead" would be the correct term for what you'd be in Maranello's eyes...

As to the question(s) of subject here...to paraphrase another: if you have to ask, you're probably not really passionate enough to own one :).

Seriously, it's a very, very special car--unlike any other. And, I'd venture not one owner, many of which likely owned Scuds or CS's or 16M's, would be likely to say they'd rather have their old one back...

Absolutely.....Sell her before its a year old..........Dead man Walking! And the Ferrari factory has a long memory! As someone who has been fortuanate enough to have owned both. I'd sell the Scud in a heartbeat and put the money into owning a GTO. Believe me, you won't miss it!

Is a gto as good as 3 times the cost of a scud or 2.5 times the cost of a 16m?

Yes it is. The experience is far more vivid than a Scud, the sound of the engine alone is worth half the asking price. Its stupendously quick and the whole GTO experience is such a vivid one. I cant speak for the 16M as I have virtually no experience with it, apart a lap or two around the track but I would take a GTO over a Scud without even thinking twice.

I'll let you know in April when the GTO arrives and I will test it back to back with my 16M, all in the name of meticulous research :)

I do hope so, have never driven a 599 let alone a GTO. I started up a customer car, that sounded absolutely insane even at lowish rpm with a cold engine. I have no idea how Ferrari got it to pass Swiss noise regulations.

A friend of mine (he posts here on F-chat but not much) currently has an Enzo, 16M and GTO. He has had numerous ferraris in the past- couple of 599GTBs, california...everything back to the Testarossa days (excluding 288GTO/F40/F50). He says the GTO is the best Ferrari he ever owned and seems faster than the Enzo. I trust his opinion given that he has all 3! (what a collection!)

I haven't been in the GTO or 16M yet, but drove his Enzo a couple of times- the enzo is a beast (he has straight exhaust post- cats)- awesome experience!

Understand completely. Loved my 09 Scud. Great noise, tremendous grip, quick and responsive handling. Easy to drive fast and very tossable. My favorite Ferrari.......2nd behind the GTO. Think of everything you love the most about your Scud and then multiply it X 3! As unbelievable as that sounds thats the rush you get every time you sit behind the wheel of a GTO.

As sport-focused street cars go, the ACR's better than both. But what would you rather have? Pretty much everything's good of late.

Good decision. I had an 09 Scud and moved to a GTO. Never looked back.
