This looks very good Anders. Excellent job. I'm impressed by the brightness of your LEDS as you used non-SMD leds. Are these leds the one you bought in Sweden (diodhuset.se)? Difficult to imagin brighter than that.

I'm still waiting to receive my SMD Led strips but should have them by the end of this week.

Nop - it is not Diodhuset. They were to "blue-ish". These new ones are the same manufactor but now the temperature / light is absolutely clear chrystal white.
48 diods and you cut of 6. Perfect match to our headlamps.
Will just try one more trick - then I let you know where to buy them.

Looking forward if you can beat this Stef!

    all the best.

Sure we will! The cheapest DIY having the most views :D But I'm very glad of this kind of interest which can be applied not only to the F430 but other cars or environments.

So the diode strip should just slide right into the housing I suppose?

Yes, it does. Just slide them in the existing transparent tube with the leds upwards as Anders showed in his first posts.

Even with the rubber tubing to hold the LEDs up? Wow! Can't figure that there's that much space in that passage. Thanks!

Really hate to say this but I can't see the difference clearly in the picture, maybe a little...ikea diodes do not form a closed line of light but the other side does...

I can too, but which side is which? And who the heck is going to see the car from an aerial view? Ha ha. I'd take a front picture, lights on and off in daylight, and another at night :).

The one on the left is the Ikea version and the one on the right is the newer version.

You are RIGHT! Viewing the picture on an iPad is not the best way to judge the final result. Seeing it on a 27inch iMac makes hell of a difference. Amazing stuff.

Some update. I've received the SMD led strips which is very communly used in house decoration. As I specified before, SMD led's are very bright and come mainly in SMD3528 or SMD5050. SMD5050 integrates 3 LED's in 1. The reference number 3528 and 5050 stand for the LED size (35mmx28mm and 50mmx50mm).

I attached a picture which compares respectively in order the IKEA DIODER, SMD3528 and SMD5050. As you can see, the brightness between both SMD strips is identical (830 lumens vs 848 lumens). But compared to the IKEA DIODER, the difference is huge.

The SMD strips are very flexible and should fit very easily in the headlights having all leds upwards. That will be my next move for the headlights and certainely the last one ;) But these SMD strips will also be very usefull for the taillights (THE other thread), interior indirect lightening and engine bay (resists up to 85C).

One question, are the stock bulbs (the ones to be drilled out and used solely for its socket) easily obtained or must they be purchased via oem?

These bulbs are standard H6 bulbs, you can get them anywhere in any autoshop.

So basically I just need to remove the glass from e h6 bulb and wire it up? No resistors needed?
