you're right.

i wonder if there's a 'normal'? because that calculator was right for the 308 springs, but MILES out with the CH springs.

 

With any formula to get an accurate result the inputs need to match the outputs, i.e. for a lb/inch answer you should really input lb's and inches. I take it they have assumed a lb rate for the springs that represents the majority.

I wouldn't be surprised if the measurement for your 355 CH springs are a lot less than what they actually are when using that formula as with it being a "race car" the springs would be stiffer?

 

the chart came back with 550lb/inch. they're actually 1800lb/inch....so yes, out a little bit

 

Just measured the old springs from my 308GTB. They are absolutely standard Aussie spec wire thickness, number of coils and total length and totally NOT as hard as Ferrari claims.

It means I'm glad I've put in stiffer springs.

and they're too soft standard....too much of a limo ride.

 

You would think for Australian roads they would be a stiffer spring ,most other car makers in that period upgraded there suspension to suit us.

well, I drove my car today for the first time since the suspension was 'upgraded'....still with wheels pointing in different directions (needs wheel alignment)....anyway....it's bloody fantastic. Also, 20mm lower at the rear and 10mm lower at the front has helped aesthetically enormously.
