    Hey guys,

    Came across this 308 for sale on carpoint recently -

    http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?Cr=11&R=9987754&keywords=&trecs=239&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__sid=12EC3311802C&__Nne=15&__Qpb=true&seot=1&__N=834

    Apart from the fact that its LHD this seems quite good value. Never seen a 308 this cheap before especially a Carby model. Anyone know anything about this particular car for sale and why such a low price?

    I know the car (helped Gerry unload it from the container!). It had been "improved" with blacked out scoops, vents and so on, which is why he had to do the full repaint. No accident damage.

    It's in very good shape, euro bumpers, new leather, exhaust, etc as the ad says. No creaks or rattles when you drive it, rubber seals all in good shape too. It's from a dry state, so reduced rust risk.

    Price is a reflection of him wanting to shift the car. I believe he's got a couple of guys on it, so don't wait around if you're interested.

    Nah, I just buy a few bits&pieces from the vendor, at very fair prices. He has some ability to turn up stuff at the right price - guess he's just passing that on.

    just trying to help. My knowledge of the car is from actually looking at it, vs. the usual armchair experts on here who base their opinions on photos and guesswork. :)

    I wouldn't endorse the car if it was no good, nor would Gerry sell a dud car, 'cos it'd only come back and bite him, as you well know. He sold the last US car he bought in for $62K, so this is good value. Do the numbers on getting it here and the work its had, he's hardly ripping anybody off.

    I suspect the price reflects the fact that it's LHD. All jokes aside, IanB is well respected within the community and wouldn't endorse a car he didn't think was right.

    The only advice I can give based on my experience is that you are better to pay more for a good car. Don't only look at purchase price. I bought my car for under $60k and then spent $160k fixing it up.

    It's LHD.

    Poor Brett.

    Sounds good value for $220,000.
