Hi Members, When opening and closing the roof on the 360 Spider I understand that when the roof is oopened or closed, I cant remember which, you should get a beep sound once the operation has completed. I seem to remember that this is what used to happen on our 360 Can someone please explain how the roof should work and if the beep sound is not working as it should where i should go looking for the problem. Please dont tell me to RTFM as I dont think this detail is in there? Thanks in advance Kipper
Kipper; My car emits a beeping sound upon completion of both the opening and closing process. My CEL also goes from a roof icon back to the outside temp
My car does not beep. You have to listen to the pump. It will be interesting to hear more about this from others.
Mine will complete its cycle and beep, but I will get an occasional roof open icon flash, I also listen for the bump !
Mine beeps at end of both cycles opening and closing, keeping the button pressed after the beep closes the windows.
Thanks all for your input, My roof does not beep at the end of each cycle, I believe it used to some time ago but for some reason it does not now, Does anyone know how the beeping device is activated? is it by pressure switch, limit switch ect, if so where will it be located? Thanks in advance
I have yet to meet a 360 spider owner who does not have some sort of problem with his power top. On mine there is the occasional hesitation when the top is closing followed by the icon then failing to go off. Hate the damn thing, wish it was manual.

I hope this isn't what the 360 & F430 Spider owners feel in general. Before getting my 2004 360 Spider, I did some research because that was my exact concern, and the top mechanism appeared to be as reliable as any other convertible tops; but of course there is always this low grade of concern of something going wrong w/ that top mechanism whenever I hold down that button...
Hi Dicin, This is how I understood the roof should operate still hoping someone will chime into this tread with some direction as to where the switching for the buzzer and icon are located Kipper
Yes, it's a limit switch. The good news is it's the last one, so other than the annoying light all the time, no harm. There's a thread on this with all microswitch locations for the 360, so you're in luck. As a comment, I have a 430, and after adjusting the switch I thought was the culprit, no more light, so guess it's the right one. Now to its location. If you open the engine hatch, on the driver's side, this switch is right behind and below the portion that opens to stow the roof in place, in the corner where the panel turns 90º from the window towards the gas cap (you'll see it right there). Adjusted it to its limit (maybe 1/2mm at best, since it was almost all the way up), and no roof light after that. Try it; nothing to lose. Good luck.
Mine beeps after it completely opens or closes. You should keep pushing the button untill it beeps, which means that all micro-contact switches are either "on" or "off" and the roof is in a complete open or closed stage of operation.
Where is the limit switch and can it be easily replaced? Does it need to be replaced? I'm having the same problem, if the top either stalls or stops halfway through the operation of the top, i get the orange, "check roof" light on the dash, (but i'm getting the beeps). The only way to get the light off is to take the key out and restart the car. And yes, i also top off the Fluid reservoir with Mercedes ZH-M. Someone suggested adjusting with a screw? but i think that was for a 430... Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
Mine beeps, I have learned if I want to save a coupe seconds to release and engage the switch and the window will immediately come up. 2-3 seconds is not a lot, but something.
