so, i'm just sliiiiightly obsessed with the 930 slantnose...any help? i know there were lots of aftermarket conversions, but i'd love to find a REAL one-anyone know of one for sale? not red or white, if possible! best year? what can i expect to pay for one in decent shape? and finally, are they a monster to handle, or not?

    thanks all!

for a factory 505 the best year would be a 89 w/ the g50 trans. a special wishes Euro car 83-85 would be nice as it would have 330 hp. there has been a 84 or 85 for sale north of Atlanta for a while. it needed a couple things (electrial/cosmetic)and he was asking high 30s. you could find a nice 60-70k mile 86-88 for mid/high 40s...or go to sloan and pay alot more for a museum car you wouldn't want to drive.

I probably messed up. Around two years ago, a seller in Cn, had a 1983 maroon and tan M506 factory slantnose special wishes car, with all the bells and whistles. It had all of the special gauges and the BBS wheels.

It was an unmodified driver. The seller provided pics of the correct components, from under the front bonnet. I wanted a nice car. I believe he would have taken 25/30K for the car.

I e-mailed him about six months ago and again asked about the car. The seller, claimed it was sold about a year ago. Keith looked at the photos, and confirmed it was a factory-built special wishes car. My guess, it is one of the most underrated modern special P-cars available. They only built a few of these cars.

I also heard the M506 Special Wishes cars, have lost some value, due to the inability of the factory, to certify the cars, with a COA.

Yep, I spoke to the dealer in Hiltonhead SC about my Slopenose. There was a program called "Porsche Exclusive" in the 80s, and cars were pulled off the line and modded for the customer. There are no records, as I spoke to someone in Germany TWICE about my car. I have a COA from Porsche, but it does not show it to be a Widebody Turbolook.

Black is the best color for a 911/930 next to yellow!

    Michael,

I do not know what year your car was produced.

The 81-85 special wishes cars, have little in the way of factory records.

The factory does have production records, for the 86-89 flatnose cars.

great cars and extremely hot right now. I know of a couple, but be prepared to pay up for the right car. I do not recommend doing a conversion, get the real thing or bust!

The records for the Porsche Exclusive program cars have not been released to anyone. I am speaking of Turbo Look cars, not the real 930's. I do want a real 930 one day, but the cars reputation scares me still.

You should be able to buy a good authentic car with reasonable mileage for <$50K..................a low mileage and unique concours example for $<75K.........stay away from the stuff that Sloan sells......he DOES NOT OWN, NOR INVENTORY the vast majority of it, and his prices are not reality based in the slightest. The cars you see there on his site you will never see for sale at any credible P-car dealer, because ever other P-car dealer has told the owners that they are out to lunch in regards to what they want. Even the guys who have been around a while and operate in the higher end of the price spectrum are not as high priced as this guy. My opinion is personally based on 20 years of selling P-cars and having moved over 1,000 of them.

so i've found an 87 with 40k miles on the clock, and they're asking for 51k, which seems high-the engine has had all sorts of mods done, so it puts out over 500hp, it has non original rims and non original steering wheel and shifter....it IS silver, which i really like, and apparently a factory slant nose, but i'd really like a completely stock car, rather than a modded one-imo, it's LESS valuable now the motor has been futzed with...opinions? am i barking mad?

I would go stock and keep looking. Long term, it's hard to get your money out of a modified car, especially if it's collectible or pseudo-collectible.

thanks..that was my feeling too...the one on ebay is 40k, with 63k miles....how do the engines hold up? is that a lot or a little, mileage wise?

If value retention is one of your primary hot buttons, go for a completely stock example as mentioned above.

Having said that, "correctly and tastefully" modified cars also bring good money and hold their own price wise. It's all in the definition of the work that was done, and are the original parts still with the car, but in a box.

FWIW there is no way that car you are mentioning is making over 500HP unless it has EFI, all the right parts, and a big dollar engine rebuild to match. These things a last a long time if well maintained.......I have personally seen a completely stock daily driver example of a 930 turbo go over 300,000 KMS on the stock engine without a rebuild. Normally 200,000 KMS (120K miles) is not uncommon.
