Did the 355 come with the metal pads under the front bumber to prevent scraping the underside of the front end. I have seen adds calling these front shoes? My car had these installed with sheet metal screws when I bought the car. They were pretty scrapped up but did seem to protect the front bottom of the car. Since they were showing quite a bit of wear I ordered another set of the poly ones. I recieved them and they were much larger then the existing ones and installed by drilling completely through the underside of the bumper and bolting on. I am just curious as to the history of these.

The alloy covers are not stock.
The factory bumpers only have the fiberglass raised edge ( like little bumpers) under the bumper and some people (myself included) have installed aftermarket alloy covers to protect the underside of the car.
The alloy covers will get scratched and look a bit unsightly but you may never have to replace them again in normal use and they do protect the underside of the fiberglass bumpers.
