How often do you have to replace

    ... your wiper blades?

    90 minutes....

Well, that's TOTAL RAIN EXPOSURE. Might take YEARS to accumulate that much... last thing
I want is a flatbed rescue for failed wipers.... just being prudent, ya know? I realize
the official Ferrari recommendation is 3 years of constant exposure to rain, or 30k....

    I play it SAFE

    :)

Do you take your wiper motor out to change them or can you do them while in the car?

Jon- Got me. I was looking for another explosion from Brian.

There is actually a scientific formula for how often they need to be changed. The factors are altitude (UV), average annual precipitation, and how many girls can dance on the top of a table. I forget the exact formula.

Yes they are very expensive. I suggest rather than making some out of $5.00 of materials, see if anybody will send you theirs to use!!!!!!

5 years gets the most votes on here. Try and fix the other major stuff while your at it like the door handles, signal stalks, and tire pressure caps. If you don't fix those you might have to send it back rather quickly. ;)

Change them when you want to (like when they streak or something that annoys you).

BTW, don't forget to replace the tensioner bearings!:D

You sir, are just a trouble maker! When I saw the post title, my blood pressure bumped up a little. Good one.

In partial seriousness, changing the wiper blades on the Boxer is an interesting ordeal. A big ol' huge mini-van sized blade and then a little 'toy' blade to help it out.

Given the difficulty, I'm saying 5 years on this, but if one breaks, remember these are 'interference blades' and things go wrong in a hurry.

Finally, a topic that hasn't been rehashed. Although the dealership recommends 3 years, I go with 5 years regardless of miles driven.

Should I replace the wiper motor bearings at the same time?

What if the blades look OK? Can I just re-use?

How do I lock the wiper motor in place securely so I can replace the blades?

Should I replace the windshield squirter pump at the same time?

    I dont get it.
Why even replace them? Who drives their cars in the rain?
Though I'll concede you'll want them Bosch Fresh for concours

Imagine the havoc a failed blade could cause: Destroyed windshield NLA but figure $5k - $10K to have one made, rubber surround NLA but you can get them with the glass slot 2mm too shallow - figure $3K, new arms at $130 each plus the blades themselves at $60 for a grand total of only $13,190.

    CHANGE YOUR BLADES!!!

Exactly. People riding around with old blades are living on the edge.
