say one imported a 575 and paid the taxes, but did not get it complied to ADRs. Can one just put it on 7 day permits?
Serious question? Can you even get a permit if the car has never been registered? And if so, can you get multiple 7 day permits without the registration authorities catching on ? Compliance is going to be circa 25K, why would you skimp on that, having already paid GST, LCT, Duty and freight ? Also, I doubt you could get comprehensive isurance for a vehicle in these circumstances. M
I was asked by a guy,I had know idea,I told him to get a LMCT.and put a trade plate on it.\ I see in the UK 30k will buy a 550 thats 47k aus plus costs.
No You can not even import the car unless you are part of the RAWS program or unless it is a personal import which you have owned and operated overseas for at least 12 minths. If you dont have a compliance plate within 1 year the car must leave the country. In the meantime you can not have any kind of registration or permit . But you can use a dealer plate if you have one.
man thats a lot of car for the $$$ but what sort of car would you actually end up with? rusty poorly serviced UK POS?
Sorry guys you cannot use a dealer plate on a vehicle that is not fitted with a Australian compliance plate. I have one and the rules state the vehicle the trade plate is affixed to must be registerable and comply with Australian design rules. If you fit one to a vehicle that is not complianced and something happens you will not be covered by any third party (green slip) or any comprehensive vehicle insurance that you or your company may have.
An SA trade plate is valid throughout all states and territories as per the constitution where there cannot be a restrisction of trade between the states
It can be imported as a Race Car though....... .....gotta jump through a few hoops but it can be done. As for Rego of any kind, forget it.......
That's the Big Poof to you.......... I was stopped by Border patrol and given lots of body cavity searches. Apart form that, my work load went from nice and relaxed to stupidly insane - whose idea was this stupid NBN thingy anyway!!!!! My Ex-Mondial has gone to Sadelaide, just an FYI......
we know of another one that went to Sadelaide some years ago, wasn't suppose to be able to go over 180 kph no matter what the guy did
