Question for Joe Sackey and others following the collectability of the Countach:

What is your opinion of the 1988 Anniversary Edition as a collector car? They currently sell at a noticeable discount to the 5000QV. Are they likely to see any appreciation in the next 5 years?

Please feel free to PM me with your thoughts so we don't take this thread off-topic. Thank you.

I think you are speaking of 1989 & 1990 Anniversary cars as they relate to the USA. I think they are quite collectible and that their time is yet to come. Naturally, as with any model pristine examples are becoming less available, so, yes I see appreciation the next 5 years.

Yes Joe, sorry, got my years wrong. (That's what I get for trying to watch TV and type at the same time -- insufficient split brain function.) Thanks for weighing in!

Thanks Joe, I was begining to wonder.

Although I bought my 89 because I love it, I occasionally feel I'm one of the few that do.
The 89 seems to be the love it or hate it black sheep when discussing the Countach.

I think the redesigned air scoops along with the lower side skirts and front lower fairing really make the lines flow and look great. Take away either one and flow goes away. The bumpers....well... I've never been able to appreciate them BUT they are part of what make the car the Anniversary edition.

A quick mention of annivesary bumpers.
The front cow catcher bumper comes stock with the visible "slots for air flow" like previous euro style bumpers on all earlier countachs that I can remember.

Why does the euro anniversary bumper come solid. Any concerns??

I know the appearence will out weigh the practicallities, but air flow is needed behind it for the a/c, what little flow it might get.

The Annnivesario is a great Countach. The best handling Countach besides the LP400S S1 actually. But it deserves an Eu front bumper.

Actually except the slightly different toe and angle the suspension is the same as on the QV, I have set my QV to the 25th values it understeers less.

Joe, I saw that car some months ago. It's actually not a museum, but a private collection.

It appeared in this same thread in #8890. I put a photo of the VIN in #8906 ;-)

Fantastic. What color is that? Is it a one-off color? Looks green on my computer.
