I must correct myself-I said the McLaren engineers scrapped the octopus exhaust and went with another system and that credit should be given to them for their hard work. Perhaps credit should be given to RB's engineers......

    http://paddocktalk.com/news/html/story-156292.html

If you can't beat them, copy 'em!!!

Let's see how long before MB and SF come back with an RB copy.

Lewis is making noise re RB's front wing, and I agree with him, but the bottom line is that RB is passing the flex tests....damn Newey is good....

I don't know...Mclaren could have been sandbagging (as they do a lot). After the final testing session the engineers (Hamilton is a driver, sure he gives great feedback, but honestly, it would be down more to the engineers when there is no more testing) either turned the car around or they took 200 liters of fuel out.

Honestly, I think Vettel was sand bagging a lot after lap 2/3. He was absolutely cruising.

Vettel lost his rear tires pretty darn quick. He wasn't bagging.

Check out my post on this thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=318559

showing it's not the wing that is flexing, but rather it has been determined that the nose is what is flexing. fascinating stuff.

    Sure.

When the car is slow, it's Hamilton's fault. When it's fast, it's all due to the engineers.

    LOL!

So, the McLaren turns from a fifth rank car at best in pre-season testing to the second best car in Australia, Lewis drove the wheels off to score a second place, and it's Kudos to the McLaren engineers, because the McLaren engineers came up with a winner.

Vettel takes a brilliant Newey car which is minimum 1 second per lap quicker than the other cars, cruises up front from pole to win, and it's "Vettel was untouchable".

What happened to "GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE!!!!"??? Vettel is a very good driver, but he didn't win the race from your perspective, Adrian Newey did.

No McLaren didn't come up with the winner, RB did, but McL made a massive step forward due to their copying the RB exhaust and undertray, not some driver feedback by Hammy or Jenson. Hammy drove an excellent race and is one of the fastest F1 drivers out there. My point is that their are posters on here who want to give Hammy credit for McLaren's turnaround when it isn't based in fact; Hammy himself criticized the car as did Jenson-until they copied RB's features, which other teams will surely do given McL's resurgence in form. Lets keep the facts straight-if McL retained that octopus exhaust they woud have finished farther back and we'd be reading about LH and JB calling for McL to develop the car more, etc.

Did Vettel have the best equipment? Of course, but he still had to drive it on home. Ask Webber if he had the best car in the field (he did but he drove almost as bad as Massa)...Newey is a genius, McL rue the day he left (no WCC since he left ) and Ferrari tried to hire him.

Paul I don't think we should contaminate this thread with anything substantial, it is purely a Hamilton mockery derision and bashing thread..;)

But yes Newey is a very clever guy.

Here's the problem... when anything goes wrong at McLaren its Hamilton's fault, yet when he is standing on the podium with the 2nd place trophy in his hands... You want the F1 fans to dig down through all the personnel at Mclaren to find out who stold the idea from RB and then find out who at RB designed the device?

I can see the news now... Hamilton finishes 2nd place and 475 staff from two teams were questioned to see who should get the trophy. LOL

Hamilton is the man in the car... and like it or not, when the car finishes better than expected... he's the public face of the team, and deserves the credit. It would be different if we were talking about applying for a patent, but we are talking about a sporting event, right?

Steve it should be titled "Hammy bashing thread" Part 1000 lol.

BTW my intent wasn't to bash Hammy, just to give credit initially to the McL whom I believed came up with an excellent solution to their "exhaust woes"; it appears that they have copied RB's rear diffuser/exhaust system to great effect. I EXPECT THE OTHER TEAMS TO DO THE SAME, AND THEY ARE WORKING ON THAT AND THE FLEXI FRONT WING RIGHT AS WE CHAT ON THIS FORUM!

You know what they say about imitation....
