And the producer of a fabulous Cabernet. The username here, though, was "Farnienti," not "Farniente."

My Tuscan-raised wife, when asked about her occupation, usually answers "far niente" ;-)
She has been known to represent herself as the CEO of dolce far niente.

Recalling the article about Gil and his car, it means "it's good, to do nothing?"

I'm learning Italian for the 'BigTex World Tour'......

I too have been 'googling' a family tree and came across this post below (years after you've written it). I've stumbled on Sandra as she is related to me through Ike's mother (Nellie Byrne). She was the sister of my grandfather (my dad's aunt). All I have on Sandra is the event of her funeral sadly. I would love more insight from you, if you could indulge me? You say she had sisters?

I re-enact Sandra every year during the tour of the Eastside Cemeteries in San Antonio, and would really appreciate answers to some of the gazillion questions I have about her life. Pls let me know if you'd be willing to share some details.

I did not know the particulars of any previous automobile accident prior to her death. One of her house help said she may have forgotten that she took medication earlier that day and accidentally overdosed herself.

There is an occasional F-Chat lurker that doesn't post. He was involved with this, more than you could imagine. I wish he would finally chime in. :)

Shawn, if you look through the thread, you'll see that Sandra West's nephew has already contributed (posting under the username sjg). Were you thinking of someone else?

without going thru all 200+ posts.....
how old was she when she died?
how was she positioned in car? as a driver? or was she buried traditonally, separately but the car included in ground?

She was 38 years old. Buried in the car as I understand it, but I could only speculate as to her position within.

I think it's terrific that members of the community continue to stop by and pay their respects after 40 years...she sounded like quite the babe!

So I am thinking the truth might be buried forever.
Strange story, so fess up along with me how many think .... We need to dig the car out ?
The fact there is a body in it instantly tells me NO WAY, but the mind does strange things when a Ferrari is involved ;)

I was re-reading the stories about Mrs. Sandra West and her fulfilled desire to be buried with her Ferrari but way back when this topic first came up, some friends and/or relatives said she drove them around Beverly Hills in a Daytona spyder. But I can't find reference to a SN attributed to her. I was momentarily confused by the note someone posted saying that European Daytona spyders had GTB prefixes and American ones GTS (or is it the other way around?) but no one came up with evidence she owned a GTB/4 spyder or GTS/4 spyder.

The inference in the story was that the spyder was the car she wanted to be buried in
but a substitution took place. Hey, maybe the will only said "Ferrari"

I saw that one of those asking about the Daytona when the thread first came up was Marcel Massini, world class Ferrari historian. I think in the intervening years he must have gathered more evidence that she owned a Daytona spyder and I hope he will elucidate us...

At the time Gene, service manage for Hollywood Sportcars on Gower, said that the family was fighting over which Ferrari to bury her in as there was more than one. The GTE was the least valuable one and was stored at the Gower shop.
