What kind / weight oil do you use in your 330 GTC?

The previous owner of 22 years swore by Mobil 1 20w60, and it seems to do a great job. Expensive though.

I recommend Brad Penn 20W-50, as all of the other oils have had the ZDP removed from them. Mobil one is also not very good anymore, and synthetic oils tend to leak more on older motors.

I second Brad Penn oil recommendation.

I have been informed with the exception of Mobil One Racing most store bought Synthetic oils are only high grade petroleum products that have similar characteristics to synthetic oils.

Hi Brian, how does ZDP or lack of it come into play, just curious? Thanks.

My memory is not as good as I thought it was - it's Motul LeMans 20W60 according to the service records.

No issues running a 20W60 oil? I would have thought that a "60" weight oil would be too thick?...

I have been using Mobil 1 20W50, but for motorcycles which has an API rating of "SG" (= 1600 ppm of zinc & phosphorous).

I have records to prove it was 60, car ran fantastically well on it. But I've just checked, and the owner's manual lists 40. Quite a difference. Comments from the community here?

The reason I asked was that, while I mentioned above that I'm using Mobil 1 20W50 motorcycle, I'm thinking for this upcoming oil change, I'd like to try AGIP Racing 4T 10W60... Has the same API spec of "SG". My only reason for change is that years ago I ran Castrol Syntec 5W50 and liked how the lower weight at cold made the car idle smoother at start-up. With this 20W50, the idle speed is a tad bit sluggish at cold, start-up. I figure the 10W60 may improve this, but concerned of the thicker weight at higher engine temps (in that it might not lubricate it as well as the thinner, 50 weight).

I'll be phoning the Canadian AGIP rep. soon to try to get some info on this oil... I'll make a suggestion to them they should reissue SINT 2000 10W50 for our classics. ;)

Well, if you're gonna reuse your oil, I suggest getting one of those gold mining pans to sluice the metal out before putting back into the motor. :)

Oh, and make sure you save the metal shavings in case you ever want to do the classiche thing.

Thanks for all the replies. Think the Brad Penn 20w 50 is how I will go. Amazon has it for $4.95 a quart. Only other question is does anyone know of either an online tutorial or written online directions to changing the oil? Want to do it myself. I've changed oil before in other cars, just want to try to catch those little bits on info and advice that you find.

    Thx.
