Don't think they will get 15 cars this year. Maybe for the first year. Hope you find the info useful. Heard a big boy like you will fit nicely in it.:D

    Hey everyone,

Long time lurker here with that occassional post. I understand that quite a number of Singapore Lamborghini (and certainly Ferrari) owners, past and present hang out here too.

I'm considering to get into a pre-loved '06-08 G Spyder. Perhaps a mid-life crisis thing. Will be trading in my 997 GT3RS Mk1 for one.

I've not driven one yet (set up to do the Spyder this week) although I'd tested an '08 G Superleggera and a '10 LP550-2 last few days. The latter with its improved e-gear was quite a bit smoother while the former somehow felt more visceral and gave that "punch" or "shove into the seat back" feel (whatever you call it) as you switch gears. Both behaved quite well (not jerky like the '04-05 Gallardos as I've been told) with the e-gear at slow speeds. Performance wise, I couldn't really tell them apart but the LP550-2 felt more nimble with it's RWD setup. I know the LP550/560 are much improved cars but they are a little too stretched for my budget.

While I wait to test a Spyder, I am thinking if I should at least do myself a favor and try a F430 for comparison sake (since this may well become my first and final foray into "exotics" before my wife kicks me out of the house). Based on what I've heard and read, the F430 is supposedly more nimble and rewarding to drive.

Question to you all is (especially those of you who'd owned both cars):
    1. What do you like and dislike about the F430 and Gallardo (e.g. F1 vs E-Gear, aftersales support, etc.)?
    2. How do you compare both in terms of reliability (electronics, roof leaks, trans, engine, etc.) and maintenance costs?
    3. What should one look out for in a pre-owned F430 Spider or Gallardo Spyder? Is extended warranty a must-have? Does Eurosports and Ital Auto offer PPI (pre-purchase inspection) services?

Lastly, I noticed that F430s with their lower OMVs are asking for more $$$ than the Gs. I reckon that the demand and export value is better, or is there other reasons to it?

Sorry about the many questions but I am hoping to get some local perspectives.

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,
    L

I'm studying law there. Why don't you wanna go? Where are you headed for then?

At present, Formula Dynamics only has the 'quiet compound/low dust' pads for all the Quattroporte models save the Sport GTS, so mine are the kevlar street pads.

Can't say much yet, except that bedding new pads is extremely important - before that, initial bite was dismal. It's alright now, no dramatic improvement in braking - but we all know that tyres are responsible for this anyway. There's definitely been a reduction in brake dust though. Will share more impressions with time.

    This.

I suggest you test drive both G and F430 before you make your decision. The resale value for the F430 is better and at any one time, there are less F430 on sale than the G. Both agents provide good service and i have not heard of many owners who have alot of problems with either car. The lambo owners tend to be the party lot and the lambo club have less drives and more party. With brother Lung as president of Ferrari club, there are lots of drive and activities. I don't think much of extended warranty as both G and F430 are well made cars. Marcus from Supercar is one of the few honest car dealers. Go look for him. Good luck.

Either the 1st or 7th! Speaking of which, after all these years, I just realised that both Lung & Spaing's ID have 77s....

Hehee, can't tahan anymore right? Good luck in your search though there's a very annoyed F430 "bathtub" spider owner here :D

U can also ask Tuck who bought a black G spyder recently.

I just hope that Mel will get their act on the Lambo club to make it more meaningful though I believe Hon has been leading Sunday drives but be warned that they take speed seriously ;)

I think u're sold on the G but just go for an extended drive on a 430. Remember, 5-15mins is not enough.

The RR Sport and Discovery is available in the 2.7 Turbo Diesel.

Another German Marque threw me the keys to a 3.0 Turbo Diesel for a few days.

All I know is that after rounding Singapore last night, hitting office, Kulai Site and a one way E22 run this morning, the tank is still like 4/5ths full!!!!

Dont do it. I literally went through the exercise just recently and almost closed the deal YESTERDAY with the dealer pushing me to drive the G out the door at lunch (he knows me very well and acknlowledges I am an impulse buyer but for once I was smart and held back a day)!!!

Forget the idea unless you hate driving but love posing- you will regret the purchase. No offence to G drivers but the Spyder is gorgeous to look at but nothing else really. I wanted to do it simply because the RS was getting no use and the GTR was really taking all the attention- so I thought a Spyder would make sense.

I was quoted SGD390k for my RS and only because I would buy VERY high from the guy that I had bought not only my RS from but also my previous turbo (good luck trying to get much over SGD350-360k otherwise), and top up of almost SGD200k to get into a 2008 e-gear Gallardo spider (OMV at 290k, one owner car). Car is no faster than an RS, has a crap auto box, lacks soul and handling wise is mushy with a flexy chassis- Phil confirmed to me that I had to keep the RS- and its now at Espace getting the original clutch back for daily use.

But nice to cruise down orchard road.... though so common now that they don't even get a second look. Get an Aston if you want to be looked at....

Pulled my RS out and decided to drive it to work this morning after substantial neglect.... it just barely started but when I provoked on throttle oversteer around every corner I could find on my way to work a huge smile formed on my face... I suddenly remember why the GT3 is one of the best DRIVERS cars ever!!!!

But who knows. You may still see me in a G Spyder next week. hahaha

Thanks for the advice. I will certain have a go at a F430 before I commit. I am a little aware of the "party" lambo crowd vis-a-vis the Ferrari ones.

Good to know Ital is ok (have dealt with Eurosports couple years back as I had an Exige then) and that both are well made cars.

Actually, I am still waiting for Supercars to get back to me on a possible trade of my RS with their Spyder. Left a message this afternoon for the guy who assisted me when I was there in the weekend but no call backs yet.

Ha ha, yeah bro...the more I look at the Spyder, the more I want one....just hope it doesn't get "old" too soon if I do eventually get one.

I've exchanged PMs with tuck via the lambo chat thread here on chat. Not too concerned about clubs and social gatherings since I probably don't have much time to participate. Gotta pay the bills man!

Hey mate, let me guess.....green G Spyder? I was there at noon today and heard some guy also wanted to trade his RS for a Spyder! Ha ha.... wouldn't guess it was you!

I love the RS but like you, I'm not putting it to good use. So I figure a "lifestyle" car like the G Spyder or F430 Spider would better meet my needs.

Care to share how much you were offered the green Spyder (all 3 were going for the same price). PM me if not convenient to share openly.

    Dare I say....Group Buy?

    Cheers!

hahaha yeah mate, green one. Michael is actually sending me the final numbers on the deal tonight to mull over.... hahaha....

But its really what we are trying to get on the RS that will determine what the price on the G will be. Sell low buy low, sell high buy high. Michael knows that once I am hot for a car I typically sell low and buy bloody high so he tries to rush me through deals....

My 996tt, Evo 9, GT3 RS and GTR were bought during a single lunch and literally on a whim- in the morning I had no idea I would change cars... hence explaining the crap deals I get. Luckily for me when I went to see the G, I was in my GTR and hence couldnt do the straight swap on the spot!!! Phew.

All I need for Supercars is to cut me a deal for my RS swap with their Spyder. Still waiting for his sales guy to get back to me.

As a matter of fact, I was just thinking of checking out that black Spider - thanks to Andrew who told me about it when I met them at Supercars last weekend. Will SMS you...probably around 2pm.

Bud, I'm trying to not go down any path right now and thats the problem!!!....

As for Ferrari, I actually looked at the 2 430's at Motorway and the white one at Eurokars but it just doesn't do it for me the way say a 458 would....which is way beyond what I can afford. So just mulling the virtues of the G....

But still feeling my RS big time so trying to take my time over this.... which is hard with Michael sensing I may break... he just makes it too easy to swap cars so long as you forget you are paying way too high....
