In the fall I changed the oil and filter for my 328. So it had clean oil over the winter. The oil was a mixture of what I had on the shelf. Let's see.....Mobil 1 (5W30), Castrol (10W30) and a little Castrol (5W30). I ran on it for about 15 miles then put the car to bed for the winter. Now this spring comes and so I change the oil again and put in Rotella T6 (5W40) synthetic oil and take the car for a nice drive. After that I park in the garage and after 3 days, no oil drips on the floor from the cam seals where there would normally be a spot about the size of a silver dollar.

Question: Is this a bad sign? Have I lost my automatic rust inhibitor distribution system? Do I need new cam belts to fix this?

Different oils all have different seal swell properties. I would guess that you stumbled on the perfect concoction that your particular engine works well with. If you could bottle the formula you could be a Billionaire.

Ready yourself for it to seep again in the future.

I'm reminded of the joke about how you tell when a Harly needs oil added, it stops leaking..

you did check that it didn't all leak out on your short drive didn't you?

LOL, no I didn't check because I had just added 8 qts and checked before the drive. Besides the oil pressure gauge acted normally so there was oil in it.
