Thought this would be of potential interest. Should be available through dealers as a retrofit. Image Unavailable, Please Login
From my dealer Edmondo. I've spec'ed the vintage grille on my new Cali and it went 10 red last week. I've already managed to swing one ammendment to the interior via the Atelier this week but might have been pushing my luck to ask for a change of grille as well I'll see what my car looks like with the vintage grille and if for any reason I don't like it, which I very much doubt will be the case, I can always have it changed for the GTO style later.
I checked with my dealer. It is called the "Vintage" front grille and costs £1862.17 including VAT. From the photos it looks exactly like the 599 GTO's. Is it? I am VERY tempted to go for it. My dealer assures me that it will not delay my car - July build.
Here is the full communication document. The name could be confusing as Ferrari already have a "Vintage" grille for the Cali which is the standard egg crate type but with a painted aluminium finish. The factory say it's a chrome finish but I think they mean satin chrome. Here is a pic of it on an Azzuro California car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
amazing !! http://www.ferrari.com/English/Services/Aftersales/Ferrari-Genuine/Ferrari_California/Pages/CALIFORNIA-Tappetini.aspx
Gotta say I still prefer the vintage grille...it's more in keeping with what Cali is, at least to me. There's just something about that GTO grille on a Cali that reminds of a Bentley imitation on a Chrysler 300.
All current Ferraris look horrible with front plates. When I get mine, the front plate is going in the boot! Don't know why they design the front like that Lambos, Astons, Bentleys have places for the front plates, but not Ferraris! The SLS too...
The weird part is McLaren tried to design the Mp4-12c with a front to fit the Euro plate-- and made it actually worse looking than they had left it alone and not put on the plate at all.
Came across these pics from the RAI show in Amsterdam of a Cali in Grigio Titanio with the Vintage grill which I thought may be of interest to some. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think it looks very nice on the lighter metallic colors (silver/silver-blues), as I'm sure it would on white. I'm thinking it might be too much of a contrast on black, the reds and silverstone.
Dealer says cannot get GTO style mesh grill with front parking sensors as it interferes with proper operation. Also, the mesh grill is dealer installed item and cannot be ordered as a new car option from the factory.
Holy crap thats amazing what Ferrari can charge for some glorified chicken wire and get people to pay it. It certainly looks like it would cost less to produce than the stock grill.
You think this is bad? You're joking! I paid over $1K each for having certain items coloured instead of black! Like central tunnel, armrest, etc. Obviously their cost is the same, as they have hides in every colour! Same for calipers. Nero is free, but other colours cost way more... why??? Is black paint so cheap??? I could go on and on...
Im Looking at getting the "chicken wire" option. Does anyone have a part number or confirmed pricing yet?
