You're right in saying it's for exotic roads :D

I'm sure the later models of Defender would have been equipped with many creature comforts compared to the army's version.

Maybe can remap the ecu & bigger turbo :D

The Army's Mercedes unit for scouts was more nimble.

Speaking of which has anyone of you seen a used G series put up for sale @ all?

Not that I've seen but the G series is nice. Have seen a grey/silver G55 around the Bt Timah area many times, once driven by a young lady.

Was originally looking to PI G350 CDI Bluetec version into Singapore, but import costs as well as diesel tax made it impossible! There are about 8 G55 AMGs running around our island!

It appears that there is very low production of new G-class.

Actually, Evo UK did a report on one unit of Defender that's heavily modified.

:( well it would definitely be the least common car in the club, making it exotic in relative terms...

Yeah, almost no effect on stock comfort levels. The only exception is when you're going over a really bumpy road - then the thicker anti-roll bar transmits more bumps to the opposing wheel and the ride gets much stiffer. It occurs pretty rarely though.

Rhom's map is pretty linear. You can still feel the turbo lag but it pulls much harder from the get go. It's awesome in the 3-5k rev range though. Just like a turbo should be!

Just received it too. So for the record for u naughty boys here :D

    Hi all

Our club constitution specifically defines the following cars as “exotic”:-

    Ferrari

    Lamborghini

    maserati

    Aston martin

    Pagani zonda

    Porsche (911 & above)

Our club constitution also empowers the committee to approve any other makes and models as “exotic” as the committee deems fit on a case by case basis.

Any existing members who wish to submit any of their other cars for the committee’s consideration pls feel free to email me and I’ll put your application to the committee for its approval. In this regard, pls note that any proposal would require a simple majority of votes amongst the 12 committee members.

The applicant member will be informed of the outcome of his application as soon as the committee has conducted its vote (whether via email or at the committee’s monthly meeting).

As for the committee’s decision making process, the committee is mindful that some cars are fast and look exotic; some cars are fast but don’t look exotic; some cars look exotic but are not fast. If your application is ultimately turned down, you can be sure that there would have been committee members who agree with you that your car is “exotic”, but the fact that your application is unsuccessful means that a majority of the committee members feel otherwise for one reason or another; and if so, pls respect the committee’s decision.

Similarly, if the committee had deemed it fit to admit any member & car into the club, pls respect the committee’s decision even if you personally disagree with the committee’s decision for whatever reason.

Oh boy, this is sounding very diplomatic. Do we have to start wearing all whites? :D

Anyway, I've no problems whatsoever, got wheels can travel is my motto :)

Derek & MP, please submit your applications for committee approval ;)

Oh boy, this is hardcore mate & u'll need a raincoat.

I was driving along the Malaysian's Federal highway few hours ago & there was this beautiful old red MG with chrome everywhere & other than the softtop, it has plastic covers on the sides, it was raining heavily..... don't think it has aircon though.

Maybe can try a used car? G55 is quite delicious & I keep seeing that black one in Geylang.

A volcano orange(tri color) car was on show in one of Shaw Bros studio. The car is shorter and not as wide as a 458 by only 2mm. The car has beautiful lines. It looks a lot better than what is shown in pictures. There are two practical issues. Getting in the car will not be easy for ladies as the seat is lower than the edge of the carbon tub. So ladies will have to sit on the edge of the tub and slide into the seat. The other issue is the door. While it looks beautiful with the door open, you will need a bit of space to open the door. The interior is compact but comfortable. The interior is also very well built and alcantara is use to wrap the car.The car sits lower than the 458 but according to the McLaren sales rep, the car does not have as robust an exhaust as Ferrari. However, there is an optional sports exhaust which should sound more aggressive. I switch on the engine and at idle, it sounds good. While it may not look aggressive, it has presence. We can expect to see it either end May or early June in Singapore. All in all, i love it. Can i have one please:D Derek, go drop your deposit, you will not regret it. Took some pics and will post them later.

The 2009 registered F430s are the ones with very high OMVs. In the region of 270k. My brother's F430 is also one of the last to be registered in 2009. So at the end of the day, the paper value will be higher.

Add an intake to reduce turbo lag. It will become almost imperceptible. I just did that to my R.

G55 is a unique car. Searched for RHD used but to no avail... So put off this idea at the moment. Hope the govt will do away with the ridiculous diesel tax and offer existing diesel car owners rebates
