because the end of your link was "#at=403", meaning the video starts 403 seconds in, i thought sth spectacular was happening with p45c and i was disappointed when i didn't see it at all. ;)

to make it easier for others, everybody should simply click play:

    :)

    one more question:
in the first few posts of this thread you were looking for sponsors. who are these sponsors which made this amazing project possible?

Pirelli and all the ones in white lettering on the car. The other stickers are sponsors of the 24 Hours of Nurburgring.

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is racing under the US Flag, The Italian Flag and The Flag of the City of Turin.

Been catching up on my reading of this thread, this is from p136.

This exemplifies why everyone is so in love with this project, myself included! The involvement that those of us who could never do something like this can have because of Mr Gs open-ness and enthusiasm is truly wonderful!

    Thanks very much. ;)

In an effort to be more competitive we're going to change classes add more weight via ballast, more fuel capacity, and less air restriction. We're also fitting an electric water pump,
and radiator fan. We'll also be rebuilding our engines and as Ferrari is giving us no help and won't even sell us parts we're having to engineer and build them ourselves. A bit sad that especially as we're going to race under that flag of The City of Turino and The National Italian Auto Museum in addition to the US and Italian Flags. Because of the above we're not going to race at The Ring on April 30th but will test instead and next race at The Ring on May 14.

How much more weight will the ballast and extra fuel add and how will it compare with less intake/engine restriction? Will they equal themselves out and lap times may remain the same or will there be a calculated gain in lap times?

Shame shame shame on Ferrari they are acting very unprofessional imho.

    Good luck Jim,
    Gregg

We think we'll have more top speed so we have to try it.

Good move. Seemed like C has a lot more potential down the long straights where she can open it up.

Are teams like Team Farnbacher Racing also denied the same for their 458?

Thats a good thing since I believe topspeed was your main concern in the other class and as the fuel load lightens it will hopefully improve in the new class.

Jim, can you add some color to the situation with Ferrari? What changed your relationship with the factory after success with P4/5, and why are they unsupportive of P4/5C?

Ferrari will step in for some association, if not credit, if Jim's effort is successful. Help.........may be another matter, still.

I would have expected that they would have been all over this as a shining example of "Pride for the Marque", exhibited by private, individual owners showing their passion, extending the legacy and pedigree by taking it on, themselves.

Perhaps they will, at some point.

They should have offered support from the beginning imho and I think their support 'due date' has expired. If I was the man behind this project I would leave them grovelling at my doorstep.

I guess Ferrari must feel you're drawing attention away from the 458s that are racing. Particularly in light of your immense contributions to the maintenance of Ferrari history, building the brand's image with P4/5, and bringing some excitement back into racing with P4/5C, it's extremely sad that the factory are so being so unsupportive. :(

Can you get someone else to buy parts for you and pass them along? Or are there race rules that would forbid that?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I stopped trying to figure Ferrari out years ago. This is a literal shame though.
But it will make the eventual triumph that much sweeter.

Oh there are people who are willing to help us out but as one of the best OEM's in the world has offered to make parts for us we're going that route.

As an aside our Competitor BMW has been very friendly and are true Sportsmen.

We'll likely use one of their electric water pumps.

I'm glad to hear you'll be fine despite Ferrari's efforts to make your life difficult. :)

Sad, yes, and how bloody typical of Ferrari to cut off their nose to spite their face in effect. What a shame that they have not embraced this project. Talk about "not invented here" syndrome!

Beat's me but Frankly I really don't give a Damn nor does The Ring, our Sponsors, The City of Turino or the 1,722,232 people viewing our Facebook Posts over the last 30 days.

Who knows? Maybe if we race Le Mans next year I'll ask BMW for one of their race engines.

    :)

At least ask if they'll allow you a sticker or two for the car while you use their pumps :D

Though I pretty much felt that was the answer for anyone getting a 458GT class racer, it's still a sorry state of affairs if that's the mentality Ferrari wants to pursue. More power to you and your entire team!

Now that's admirable. According to the official 24H Ring site, BMW's stats show them as the most successful brand up to 2009 data. Interesting that F hasn't even shown up in prior years and now wants to "hog the ball". Poor form.

That's pretty shameful of Ferrari nonetheless. I guess they prefer opening theme parks rather than supporting someone who has done so much to highlight the company's legendary history.

On the flip side though, I hope the BMW thing works out :) It worked for McLaren after all...
