You are in a state that has less fees. 11percent sales tax and dmv fees in California... But I rest my argument.. If it doesn't pencil It may take a few years to see where values fall to see when Fiat/Chrysler will be comfortable with leasing...
Absolutely, you have to be comfortable with the purchase. If you're not you won't enjoy the car. Even Laura Soave said the obvious; they're not for everyone. Me, I'm just a car nut and had to have one.
Im assuming so many Primas were cancelled due to the high price and finance interest rates. Here in Canada they finance at 5.99%, a little crazy if you ask me.
I'm on the 500 usa blog. Lots of Prima buyers there, so I'd say it's a decent sample. Here are the reasons people cancelled: 1) Didn't like the long wait and what they considered poor communication; 2) Didn't like the stripe; 3) Didn't like the Graphite instrument panel Bezel; 4) Had second thoughts about their color; 5) Wanted more choices (color, tranny, etc); 6) Were able to get a non Prima from another dealer right away. 7) Some test drove sunroof cars and thought they were too tall...so wanted non sunroof. There may be others, but I think that about covers the ones that popped up most. Almost no one I recall didn't like the car. So for 489 people depositing money on a car sight unseen, not suprised there were a number who cancelled.
I'm ~ 6'2" with a long (& wide ) torso; sounds like if/when I get one the sunroof is iffy. What about the other 11 cars; auctioned off and/or reserved for VIPs?
I like everything but the Leather Color. Grey leather on a Red car doesnt work for me. I think Tan Leather would have been Sick... The body colored dash would have helped as well...Oh and a nice lease payment....
1-10 and 500 were reserved by Fiat. I think there was at least one auctioned off, and I think Jay Leno got #2 and #3.
Not in the market for one but was killing time this weekend and decided to stop by the dealer, they easily had 20+ Fiats on the lot... I was excited when I heard the 500 was on its way to the USA, I LOVE Italian design and feel, BUT as much as I wanted to like this car it did not appeal to me in person! I will just have to wait for Alfa's arrival. Just my .02
I'm kinda in your camp. I think there's too many bugs in Fiat's system -- not the car, but the system. They don't seem like a well oiled machine yet.
You guys are crazy The Fiat looks great, especially as a modern 500 to what the old 500 was, plus what else for that price has the character the Fiat does?
Someone posted on the Fiat USA Blog that his car came damaged and it took the dealer a couple of weeks to fix. He got car rental covered, but also as a good will gesture, Fiat paid his first month car payment to make it up to him.
