i can see getting the name wrong .... maybe but wouldnt a walk around give you a bit of a clue to the number of doors gary 8394
Great ! Philippe. Have a look on Ebay as sometimes you can find 1 license plate fomr Bologna, and even 1 pair. You need to be aware that the best that can fit you nice Espada is whit/black plastic plates. Plates w/ Prova in orange (or the symbol of each Province in orange) are only from the 1976-85 series.
Does anyone know the type of oil we need to put into the compressor for the air conditioning. We are in the UK and its a Jan 1974 r/h drive Any help much appreciated Thanks
Hi gents, new member here though a long time member of VLG. Owned Espada 7323 for 10 years and sold it in 2006 after a full resto; recently acquired Espada 7758 from a fellow who owned it for 36 years. Original paint (verde pallido) and interior (blue). Runs great but the engine has to come out to replace worn cam-drive bearings and to check everything else. AR PS: Really? We have to type "ferrari" in every time we post? We are strangers in a strange land... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe i am a minority here but i know those black knock offs are original and i think they look pretty cool. They compliment the black seam on the side agianst its light paint work. Reminds me of the old shot of ferruccio leaning over the espada out back of the factory many years ago as in the book espada and the four seaters Gary 8394
They did do some things you might not think they did like chrome air cleaner housings, shag carpet and chrome spinner ears. I have no idea if black was one of those. I'm just a traditionalist on this one though.
Valentino Had mentioned to me when we were talking about my car that some actually came Black on early cars. If you look in the Osprey Book Lamborghini the 4 seater there is a pic of Ferruccio leaning over an Espada out Back with Black knock offs!! Gary
gents have a look at this buttery smooth series 2 interior Fresh from Diamond trim !! Please excuse the light and color ( gee gary isnt that the most important part of a picture??) I will take more outdoors in sunlight soon. gary

yes i am aware the shifter boot looks wrong but its a little excited as it knows its having its picture taken . We have since folded it back in on itself to to better represent the uncircumsized ugliness its supposed to be gary
So now you need a mohel mechanic too? Continuing the metaphor .... IIRC there's a thick rubber O-ring in the top that snugs around the shift stick. Your Espada gives the visual impression of riding in a raspberry covered chocolate bar. Makes me want dessert Gary ... God that interior IS a lot of work. What did you guys do to improve that panel on the top of the dash? On mine it's a simple piece of masonite with foam and leather on it. It has very crude retaining tabs at each end and when the sun warms it it curls like an elf's loafers. I need to fix that.
the top dash panel and the interior work in general..... I insisted he use the same peice of crappy masonite as it had some markings and numbers hand written on it so why throw away history ? We improved slightly on the fasteners by relocating them slightly so this wont curl up when it gets hot but they are essentially the same. I am confident it wont curl up now on a hot day. Although I did not do the work, I was there sometimes twice a week as project manager!! The total time he logged to do the interior for series 2 interior was over 300 hours. for those who might be considering it. This included leather wherever there is leather or everywhere i should just say. , headliner , visors, visor frame all carpets heel pads toe pads . Polishing and plating of metal strips was separate as was refinishing the wood. Changing all busted and or incorrect switchgear was my baby as well to to source . The entire console in front of the shifter was fu....d and and to be completely reconstructed using the original steel frame behind it in which the 2 circular vents screw into. They hammered, bent, reshaped and repainted it so even though its now invisible i feel good about it all being there as it was some 40 years ago. the 6 circular vents in the carpet got cleaned, repaired and new chrome plastic rings glued on . These really pop now! New correct Kangol belts which also look good and as long as i keep them snug ( which should be no problem for me) so They wont come off in the middle of a fast turn . No wonder they outlawed these crappers. replicating the stitching on the inner door pulls was lenghty but they really look amazing! Ashtrays were also a mess now they sit proberly although never could figure out why "properly " didnt ever sit flush?? i guess the hinge had to be exposed.. a quick note about the perforations. Valentino insisted that i send 2 skins not precut strips . I argued this a few times without succcess however and finally conceded remembering all the stories about dealing with Italy and thinking of the soup nazi and how George had to hand him the money for the soup a certain way etc!!!! So with that i got the leather back perforated all on the one sheet and yes some lines of perforation were not even parallel to each other , this made sewing the rolls immensley challenging for Gary ( yes another Gary and his crew not Gary B this is canada remember) Now when you look at the rolls that have the perforations there are some that you can actually notice ( if I was to point it out to you) the are not completely horizontal !!!! now being really fuc.... pisssed i began to look thru all the photos i have recd of original unrestored espadas and YES they to have perforation rolls that are not prefectly horizontal on the same exact rolls on the same exact seat backs in the same exact position. So with that I conclude my seats are 100 percent correctly incorrect! and i challenge and concours judge in the entire world to call me on it ! he will be sorry he asked!!! I am overall immensley satisfied with the results and now I know what the original owner must have felt the first time he opened the drivers door so long ago. That alone was reason enough for me to undertake such an expensive project . You cant think cost when you do this that will weigh you down! if your going to make all sorts of compromises along the way just dont do it is my 2 cents. You have to have another motive and reliving history for one breif moment was worth all the agrevation. Now that its done i almost regret my exterior color choice as the gold must have matched so well with this interior . I know full well the dark red doesn't work as well and i am sure i get told that now. I did say "almost" as i still really hate Oro di mettallico more than a bad cold . It looks like a bad cold. Now off to Ugos for syncros to be installed just in time for the season . And so with this ends a 2 year journey of work and spending large . Sadly it looks so good i know now why guys dont drive them once restored . those guys are nuts where did i leave my keys?? Gary Espada 8394
Yep, the same one. Same owner for 36 years. By the way, the spinners are not supposed to be black, these were repainted by the seller to better hide the blow marks. It didn't work.
