I just got back from KL too.

I was pulled over at 127km/h and the guy told me that I was speeding. So i said that I was willing to pay the summons and he told me that he is giving me just a warning instead of the 300rm fine. He also told me there will be four more speed traps along the way.

So possibly the code word now is gimme the ticket and i will pay and they let you off with a warning? Haha.

Last year we had four cars on the way to Port Dickson and we were pulled over soon after entering E3. I asked for ticket and the cops threatened to tow the cars away for dangerous driving. Since we were somewhat cash rich, time poor, we paid.
But my view is to call their bluff.

Technically a Fiat so feel free to reject one for ECC :D:D. Must be mad to do so!
Believe there are now 3 registered in SG since OSG brought his over? Now I can't wait to see someone bring a BB or a Muira over.

I'm getting extremely frustrated with shipping my car for Mille Miglia.

The people in Malaysia simply lives in stone age & their own world. For 2 months, I've sent words out to many shippers & agents all over the world. UK, Netherlands, Italy, Singapore & KL. The western countries are reasonable with reply within a week or two.

The people in KL reply fast but then decides to go on leave or disappearing act.

I have to drive 1.5hours through jam to get a 2pg paper then spend the next 2hrs driving back. Then they told me they could've fax or email but quality is poor......so better collect.

When I drove all the way to Port Klang yesterday, had to spend 1 hour looking for the correct port as they have 3. Then spend the next 2 hours waiting for agents who turned up & said documents were not right!!! Loading & strapping up within the next few hours is not possible.

Today, I finally received the carnet, bank approval, inspection cert but their JPJ (LTA) closed by then.

Sorry to vent my frustrations here but it is extremely tiring to go through all these hassles & I was willing to pay. Paid a few gals some angpao to get paperwork done within a day when those could take up to 10 days to process!

Anyway, missed two ships & now waiting news again.

And you know what? Another forwarder finally tells me now that all these could've been done by a runner..... & the inspection centre can send staffs to your home to approve it for a mere RM100. (I spent one hour getting there & another 2hrs waiting for the *******s who could even eat durians in office!)

I thought it was difficult to get into Mille Miglia but shipping the car out is a nightmare.

    Another strange thing happened.

Collected the car after a full service & ran around these few days through storm, Genting & jams. Wiper starts to fail, headlamp failed & reverse gear could not be engaged!

Anyway, car is sorted & ready. Finger cross that nothing else happens.

Hann, you are damn lucky to just fly there & drive!

Audi, thanks for the contact for Ben.

Btw, I saw a yellow Dino GTS in my workshop. Took some pics ;) 1 owner's car but it is in almost barn-find condition. Driver mirror hanging on for dear life, wheels corroded & seats are '80s Recaros in cloth....

Bro, good luck for the rest of your processing and look forward to the MM. Now you know why businesses love being located in SG so much. I had absolutely no such problems when shipping mine out and in thru SG ports and dealing with Regent Express. Zoena is a gem of a business lady whom I highly recommend.

Having a runner for around RM100-RM150 for stuff like this is quite common. This same service applies to speeding up police reports for accidents, tendering for vehicle number plates in other states...etc

Anyway, all this crappy delay and ding-dong is very typical of Malaysia... :D

When your time comes at MM, I'm sure it would be priceless

My next option is flying the car there & just two working days.

Yeah. This country is run by runners from the smallest to the biggest deal. I should have a word with the Home minister & hopefully he becomes the future PM.

When u see the poverty stricken in the streets, I feel for them. 6-8 kids cannot sit for exams or continue their school because they don't have birth cert & their parents died @ birth. Unless, the principal forks out Rm1000 fine out of own pocket for each to sit the exam.

    Thanks mate.

    Over here, we need these:

Carnet "carnet du passage" (two types for exhibition=no driving or multi countries driving) a set of documents to avoid you paying hefty taxes to visiting places & back. Requires few sheets of info for them & letter from event. 10 days & issue a bank draft of 50% on car value as deposit.

Bank release letter if on loan. (requires insurance co. to be notified & approved etc) Then they'll release the original logcard. 2-7 days

Bring all paperwork (originals) to JPJ (LTA) & apply for temporary export permit. Requires car to be inspected. Another 2-7 days

    Pre-book customs 2 days

    Book ship

I have to do all the above within 5 days.

All the above provided the person in charge IS NOT on MC or leave cos nobody takes over but they can magically settle for u if greased.
