No, too much going on this weekend, I only had the suite passes for Thursday's practice. I've done it before years ago though.
that was a good race! no cautions the last ~25 laps. don't see that often in NASCAR anymore good runs for Regan, Menard, Ambrose. I think one of those guys will win a race before the year is out. my fantasy team finished 3-7-13-14. not bad, we'll see how you guys did
I spent the evening at the dirt track so missed the race, though did check nascar.com a few times. Congrats on your second win; bad wk for SRB. I'm the only one in the top 6 without a win. Image Unavailable, Please Login
to be honest I was drifting between awake and asleep for much of the race but still, it seemed liked a better race than we've seen most of the year. big fast 1.5 mile tracks are popular for a reason.
1st place, I've been flying up and down the Dragon all weekend so I didn't see the race. Currently watching F1 qualifying... Lots to catch up on.
Driving the SRT-6. Here's a pic from Thursday's picnic on the Cherohala Skyway. Image Unavailable, Please Login
nice. I LOVE that part of the country. If/when I leave the land of fruits and nuts, I think I'm headed to Nashville/East TN.
Very cool. How is your Crossfire holding up and cost of repairs (e.g. Mercedes like pricing on parts?)? I like the look and the fact that they are somewhat rare (at least near me).
I need shocks at the moment. Mechanically it's a bullet proof car. The only major issue is the bottoms of the heated seats. All of them fail I do all of my own work on the car and get my parts from parts.com or wherever I can find the OEM (when needed) parts cheapest. It's just as expensive as a Honda or VW. Aftermarket kind of sucks, but with Dual CAI and Eurocharged tune, I'm putting close to 355hp down at the wheels and it's plenty of power for a 3,200 pound car. I also own an 07 Mazda MX-5 and I'm contemplating trading them both in for a Lotus Elise though. I've got car fever, so I'm going to wait a month and see if it's something I still want to do.
I cannot believe I would actually even hint at the fact I kinda enjoy NASCAR. But I secretly do. I think part (well actually the only reason) is that I have been given a photo vest and press passes to a number of races. The one thing I can't get over is the fan dedication. It is amazing. Enough talk. Here are teaser photos I've taken. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't know. But who ever he is, hot blondes (at least by NASCAR standards) want to talk to him. Image Unavailable, Please Login
We don't see enough to know if she is 'hot' or not. Going to a nascar race is like going to an EVENT, getting there is fun, tailgating or wandering outside the track is fun, seeing the devout fans is fun, the event is fun, the postrace stuff is fun. The whole thing is a big interaction that is fun. UNLIKE something like going to an NBA or NHL game, those you show up, watch, and go home.
Ain't that the truth. Here's the problem as I see it: Mainstream sports fans never 'got into' racing, or Indy racing, it was always the devout motorsports fans. Over the last 20 years, 'Indy racing' has lost even the casual racing fan, let alone the devout ones. That was your bread-and-butter, these were the fans that 'knew the score', and they (we) chose to just drop it, as opposed to listen to the petty BS games played by CART and/vs Tony George. We just went in another direction. Prior to about 1993~ the grandstands were full mostly of devout fans (like nascar is today), but open wheel racing has lost almost ALL of those fans, today the fans really don't follow it, I don't think. I don't see anyone talking about that great move Will Power put on Kanaan, or how Scott Dixon blew around Marco, those conversations simply don't happen. Whereas, years' ago, devout racing folks talked about Bobby, Rick, Sneva, Johnny, Al Sr., Danny, even Mario and Michael and a whole bunch of others. Today that doesn't happen. I cannot tell you the last time anyone EVER brought up anything to do with Indy racing, good or bad, and I am in a pretty big circle of motorsports people. Today, the avid Indy car fans talk about Kyle, Tony, Jimmie Johnson, Jr., Jeff, et al........
I know a few hardcore Indycar fans, but for the most part I agree. CART was huge as a mainstream sport when the personalities were there (Mario, Rahal, Sullivan, AJ, etc etc). I think the shift was not from Americans to foreigners, but from knowns to unknowns. and then comes NASCAR who has taken appealing to the mainstream fan to an art form. If Indycar is going to copy NASCAR, it needs to be in commercial development and turning drivers into stars, not double-file restarts. but I digress. this is the NASCAR thread which Keselowski should I pick this weekend?
