With no disrespect to Lamborghini, but the LP570-4 is now a generation old considering it is based on the original Gallardo platform released in 2004. But the 458 is a completely new generation car, with more advanced electronics, suspension, gearbox, etc. I would compare the 458 more closely to the new McLaren MP4 12-C as opposed to the LP 570. Looks subjective Performance 458, unless you include the Super Leggera Sound, possibly Lambo on this one, unless the 458 is on Performance Mode Ever day use the 458 considering the gearbox Wow, subjective once again. Hope this helps.
which ever one you can buy with a real 6 speed. i know that rules out the 458. i think lambo still offers it as an option for now. 458 also looks too angular to me
Boy the Ferrari folks pulled a fast one on you. The 458 is not a completely new car. It is an evolution of the 430, which is an evolution of the 360. Same basic foundation aluminum chassis. Same engine just evolved to 4.8 liters from 3.6 then to 4.3. The 458 is no newer than the Gallardo. They just changed the body more to make it look like a different car. I hate to burst any bubbles, but that is the truth.
I'd have the LP570. I don't give a sweet sh*t about which one has more doodads and geegaws. The Lambo sounds better, looks better, is more exclusive, and I can access just as much of its potential on the street as I could from the 458, so the performance at the limit doesn't matter. Make mine Azzuro Aquarius, small wing, and delete the stripe...
Well, I bought the Lambo 570-4. Why? 1) I don't drive on the track. With that said, in terms of real world results the 570 and the 458 are darn close on the track. So, no real difference. 2) Ferraris are WAY TOO COMMON (live in OC and Vegas). With the advent of the Cali, and now the FF...there is a Ferrari for everyone. Great for Fiat..not so great for enthusiasts looking for something unique. 3) I don't like many of the styling elements of the 458. The front end is...well...odd looking. 4) Ferrari interior, great concept...but, not so great execution. 5) Build quality. I picked over a new 458 before buying the Lambo. NO QUESTION the Lambo is overall built better. Look into the door jambs, the welds, the materials used...Lambo wins. 6) Sound, Lambo. Though, the new LP cars don't sound as mean as the pre-LPs. 7) Exterior design. When I look at the 570...I smile. It just looks perfect (to me). I could give a ratts a** that the original shape was from 2003. Who cares. It was perfect then...perfect now. 8) Price. 570 SLs are less expensive in a real world buying situation vs a Ferrari. 9) AWD. I know I am not a race driver and the AWD has saved my a** more than once. 10) E-Gear vs the dual clutch. Unless you have driven both you won't understand. OK, fine the dual clutch is more 'modern'. Sure, shifts smoother...and maybe faster. But, put the 570 in Corsa mode...find an empty road...and you WILL BE SCARED. The Ferrari trans felt to me a little less...super-car and more...luxo-GT. If you intend to use your exotic as a DD..the Ferrari's trans would be better.
Perhaps you should learn some manners before you start your first sentence like you did in this post. Reading your other posts I see you don't have any manners so no point. Since your such an expert, lets analyze some of your points below. Really didn't know the 458 had a 4.8 Litre? I always thought it was a direct injected 4.5. The 3.6 from the 360 you refer to was an older block that was designed around a 5 valve head, previous to that the 355 had an iteration of that motor. Whereas the 4.3 originated from the New 4.2 shared block from Ferrari/Maserati in early 2000. But I guess you know better. I also didn't realize that Ferrari didn't make any changes to the Chassis, Aero, Aluminum Construction, etc. I guess the Twin Clutch Box is an evolution of the old 6 Speed as well. Have you looked at the bare chassis of a 430 vs. 458? No because you know better and your the expert of above all the others that were at the presentation and engineering analysis by the Ferrari Staff at the introduction. Including the Journalist from around the world. I think perhaps you should maybe learn a little bit about cars and manners before starting your drivel.
Very insightful! Thanks! Could you post some pics of your 570? How are the seats for extended sitting time? The noise? How much louder or less louder is it than the 458 if you know? Thanks again!
You can pick apart things, but you know what I meant. Unlike some cold personality-less posters here, some of us like to have fun and stir the pot a bit! And it is hard to resist with so many prude single-minded Ferrari nuts around. Same with Porsche prudes....I was at a Porsche event last night and the talk was humorous at best......everything else sucks.....Italian trash....British junk....miles ahead in sports car victories....engineering leaders/everyone else copy cats....blah blah blah.... Some of us like all cars from Lotuses to Fords to Ferraris to Nissan (I like anything with wheels a motor) and we can't help but push the buttons of the prudes. All car development is evolutionary, it is just a question of how large the evolutionary step. Sure, I bet the factory intro wasn't a blow-hard dump of crap to impress people and get others to throw money at a new model. The fact is that the 458 is very little more evolutionary than the Gallardo progression. Sounds like you are up in arms because, on this thread the consensus is that the 570 wins so far! God forbid a tractor is ahead of the almighty F1 king! The evolutionary gap between the 430 and 458 is really quite small. Now if you want to see a big evolutionary gap, look at the Murci to Aventagor....totally different chassis, suspension, etc., but I would argue that the motor is not that large an evolution from the Murci engine. And the double clutch....big deal... completely unnecessary, and overly complex = heavy and big maintenance $. Don't be getting defensive and say 'no!' to prudes!
what? i prefer the looks and sound of the 570 over the 458, but to say the 458 is only a 'small evolution' from the 430 and 360 is ignorant. you are simply wrong, nomatter how to try to color your shades of gray.
That is funny, all in good fun, everybody is entitled to their opinion. I actually think very highly of the LP570-4, just that I believe the 458 is a big leap from the 430, just as the LP570 Replacement will be from the existing Gallardo (570).
Seats...I have the CF 'race seats'. Are they comfortable for long drives? No. Long trips, I am taking some sort of lumbar support. Noise...inside (to my 41 year old ears) they both sound fantastic. Outside, the Lambo sounds better (IMO). With that said, the LOC exhaust on my previous 07 G sounded better than both the 458 and the 570 SL. FYI, the 560's (and 570) are nearly completely different cars vs the older Gs. Different in all the ways that matter. Diff trans, diff engine, suspension etc. I am assuming that whatever replaces the current 560/ 570 will use the 570s guts. I will attempt to post pics... Thanks and I will do as you suggested! Here is a pic of the 3rd....05 Elise with a bunch of track go fast stuff. headed up to Monterey this August for a 71 Mercedes Benz 280se 3.5 Convert...also on the hunt for a Hartge H3 E21 BMW 323i...and maybe a real original mini cooper S.... BEAUTIFUL! I love that colour as well. Perfect car, congratulations! How's the acceleration feel vs the LP560 if you know. I've rode in an LP560 and am trying to imagine the difference between the two.
In terms of pure acceleration I doubt if the 560 would feel that different from the 570. 560 is an awesome car. Worth stating, the 560/ 570 are a MASSIVE evolution vs the earlier Gs. I had a 07 and thought it was amazing...drove the 570 and made the switch. Drive both. The 560 is worth the difference in price. The LP cars really are almost completely different cars vs the pre-560s. Where the difference in experience 560 vs 570 would be obvious are the ways the 570 handles, sounds...and even smells. (Alcantara vs Leather). The 570 IS stiffer vs the 560. Beyond different 'shocks' the SL has almost a completely different suspension. The SL suspension (from what I read) the same that they use on the Super Trofeo race cars. I was told that the software in the SL is different from the 560. Beyond the 10 added HP SL's are designed to feel more rear wheel biased. Interesting to note, the SL has been tested (car and driver, I think) to be significantly faster vs the 560 (or 458). 0-60 in 3.0 seconds. That stat has absolutely no practical application other than ego...interesting none the less. I have said this before, unless the replacement car looks like (as in almost exactly) the Elemento..I am keeping the 570 SL. In my mind, the SL IS the perfect super car. Has the old school look..and feel..yet, has all the latest technology.
Thanks so much for the input! Would you say the cars performance is more easily accessible than the 458? I guess the 4 wheel drive would make it easier to push it without over pushing it.
awesome car, great color too!!! this and verde ithaca would be my two, followed by good ol fashioned Nero.
Looks - Neither do anything for me. Performance - havent driven either to compare Sound - Ive heard both many times and would say the 458 wins this one Every day use - No personal experience to compare WOW factor - Lambo wins by a slim margin
