Local dealer said they put orders for the 500C in and are hoping to get them in June.

Does that mean December in Fiat-time? ;)

What is the real-world price on the Pop? Local dealer is quoting just over 18K for one with Bose upgrade but not a whole lot else.

    Thanks

$15,500, no options, plus tax and fees.
That does include PS PB A/C power door locks, windows, ABS, stereo, etc.

    Thanks for the link

The one they have (in the color I like) has the bose, bluetooth and alloys, so that's right at 18K.

Wonder if it's worth the wait to get one stripped down.

Fiat is allegedly doing Saturn type "the price is the price" pricing. However, given that these are Chrysler dealers, expect some to undercut pricing once supply outweighs demand. In the meantime, figure on MSRP + options + dealer crap.

It's amazing. I absolutely love having my Blackberry paired up and saying "Call xxx at home" and it going through over the speakers. The fact that it syncs your phonebook and recognizes every name you throw out it is unbelievable.

Okay, here's where I agree that FIAT is a step (or eight) behind....

Today is the day that the convertible news broke. It doesn't matter where or how it broke...it's out there. This is 2011. The news travels fast, and you must respond.

If I go on Google and type FIAT and click "News", all the articles are there.

If I go on the official www.fiatusa.com website, do I see anything about the 500c?

    Nope, not a single thing.

But, there is STILL a link for ordering the Prima Edizione.

(Insert comparisons to MINI having news about the Countryman, etc., all available at the same time press releases broke.)

Man, if anyone here is a new media/public relations guru, call Laura Soave IMMEDIATELY. She doesn't realize that she desperately needs this position filled, but she does!

i gotta tell you, this is the stuff that drives me nuts.

i work in TV, where we have multiple products a month, and we're constantly cogniscent of how we market them.

if you're a car company like Fiat, you have less than 5 discreet products for an entire year...

figure out how to market them so you've anticipated every customer query!

for instance...."uh...how much does a 500c cost? and what colors does the roof come in?"

can anyone answer those questions for me from Fiat's website?

of course you can't, because the 'vert isn't acknowledged there!

Yah, the website sucks. Why do I have to download a pdf just to find out where my local dealers are? A quickie form for a zip code is too hard?

Ha! You guys are just catching on. I said this about 20 pages back. Their website is just ridiculous.

To to Miniusa.com and see how to do it right. Sure, they've had a long time to do it but the comparison is like a dug out canoe and the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier. Hey, they didn't need to go this far but they can at least try to make it look like they care!

I emailed my dealer 3 weeks ago. Still waiting for an answer. I've emailed a LOT of dealers over the years and always gotten a reply -- and never later than 24 hours.

What was the thing I wanted to know?

    1) What are your HOURS because your website doesn't list them.
    2) Do you have any cars for demonstrator models? If so, which ones?

Is that too much to ask?

Fiat doesn't mean Fix it again Tony. It means Not Ready for Prime Time.

    Sorry.. it's the painful truth.

A lot of the take our time attitude comes from the fact that FIAT isn't really prepared for a lot of sales. Think about it

    New Car
    New Market
    New Dealer Network
New manufacturing plant in Mexico (Unknown defects )
    No leasing (my Favorite )

If they were really on top of the game they actually might be successful and really need to make more of these cars. I think they want to limit the production, Limit the defects, Limit the complaints and Maximize the profit per car to pay the underfunded UAW pensions that the Mexicans don't get any part of....

Nice, I went by Holt yesterday to take a look at their unfinished "studio". Plenty of new cars in stock but the choice of used vehicles is rather odd. Plenty of HD trucks on the lot unless their getting them from Manheim for a song.

They have been buying used cars at auction and getting them from other places to have some to sell until the Fiats arrived. I was told the manager liked trucks as well. :)

As has been discussed, there was some delay in getting the Fiats.... ;)

Interesting enough when I spoke to the service writer, the dealership was planning on placing a 500 in the back on a long bed truck & parking out on the access road as some sort of gimmick.

I had the chance to test drive a Bianco Sport tonight and came away very impressed. The ride, handling, feel and refinement is something you would expect in a larger car. The car handles very well and it's not as slow as I thought.

I can't wait for the Abarth!

Fiat has come such a long way from my our 1980's Ritmo.

Been getting lots of questions about the new Fiat. Mostly from younger people.

    Them: "What is that?"
    Me: "A Fiat"
    Them: "Who makes it?"
    Me: "Fiat"

Have to explain Fiat is an Italian company that hasn't brought cars here since the 80s. Before a lot of them were born. They never heard of an X1/9. MAYBE heard of a Fiat spider.

Also got a "Is that a Smart car?".

    :)
