No, I would suspect the majority of people reading this thread are reviewing it for positive info about the progress of the track, while having to wade through all the crap being posted by the poo flingers.
Exactly, the same people posting the same "F1 will never make it in america, blah blah blah". Almost all construction is speculative. People keep mentioning they are putting the cart before the horse. You have to have a plan and take it to market. It has to be sold to investors. You have to line up all the moving parts and it still not 100% certain to get fully funded. If it fails to materialize, it would not be a shock. If it goes beyond the time line and over budget, it will be like 90% of the large construction projects in the country (and like most of my Ferrari repairs come to think of it). I hope the track gets built as I would like a race here. As we know that F1 has a mixed history in the US, building a track with a greater purpose for the area is necessary. None of this makes it a scam.
Autosport sent someone over to review the progress; he was impressed with what he saw so far. The whole article is for subscribers so I cant provide a good link....anyone?
The opposing views here are a result of one side looking at moving dirt and maybe some timelines to do so; the other is looking at moving money. The latter creates the opportunity to do the former. The latter also seems to be not happening. Shouldn't this week's PR event taken place over a year ago?
Austin is three hours away from Houston, which looks like the f*&^$ing UN every morning during my commute. South Americans, sure, but also Asian, Indian, African, Middle East and every country on the globe. We have every nation in the world represented in our population as well as major HQs from every oil company out there! AGIP is right by my apartment.....
they don't need investors? huh? I thought that they are short on investment is one thing that is not in dispute. We have documentation showing this.
That is true... but they needed to be doing those things about a year ago, or at *least* 6-8 months ago. Not 13 months before the track is supposed to be finished.
If you go WAY back in this very thread, a known credible member here from Austin was told early on the project was "already funded"......I know this takes ALL the fun out of the 'doomed to failure' posts of this thread, but that what was posted. Sort for Moorespeed if you want to save time looking for it. I'm not sure what document you are looking at, as 'proof' of anything.....
The tone here is beginning to get a bit defensive and ugly. Taking it personally does no one any good. Its a sport guys. Its supposed to be fun.
You guys REALLY underestimate the amount of money flowing around in Texas. There's haybales of hundreds down along the Rio Grande, like those pictures you see in siezures in Mexico City
SRT Mike is certain they are about the 'run dry"........simply wait and see. You guys come to the Broken Spoke sometime, either way!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ma Mama don't allow me near loose women and spiritous liquors but maybe that's the sort of lightening up we all need
Exactly. It's simply a political thing. Tavo hasn't been kissing the right asses and Patrick is letting him know that.
Indeed. That was back in the fall of 2009 at which point it was already fairly clear that USF1 was behind schedule, yet they complemented the team. Somehow I have the feeling the same thing might happen here again. And what is wrong with that? F1 is the only sport I care about and I totally love it. As I love the States. But the reality is, that F1 will never make it in the US. This country had the US GP since the inception of F1 in the fifties, had numerous US teams and drivers participating in it and 2 world champions. Yet F1 never caught on here. That's just a fact. A sad one, but fact. I find it offensive to be labeled a "poo flinger" for raising serious doubts. Time and again have we seen race organizers come up with grandios plans and in the end it all fizzled (Mexico, Jersey, Rome, Paris, Switzerland, Moscow to name a few). So what is wrong with being sceptical, particularly after the monumental failure of USF1 last year?
