Seriously. Though it was never one of his strong points in the past (in fact he was pretty awful), MS has been making some rocket starts this year. Look back at the races, he always leapfrogs lots of drivers at the start (Australia, Monaco, Turkey, Canada, Valencia, etc.)

    Just something I've noticed...

As MS was always consistently uselessly off the line he must be cheating. Bet they have a hidden launch control ...

WTF... Wait until the Webber investigation is annonced... his entire car is obviously a "moveable aerodynamic device." So who's the cheat???...

One might make the argument he is qualifying below the pace of the car. :)

That is impressive, the clip shows how smart he is in a sense where he put his car... I don't think a lot of drivers on the grid has that kind of sense and vision.

There was a post previously on this site from somebody that went to a GP and he mentioned that Webber was the only driver to go and investigate his starting spot before the GP got underway ... and yet he is not a good starter.

    LOL, very funny :).

Anybody that still thinks MS is the only one that puts the yards in is kidding himself. There are not many Kimi's in F1 ... most are like MS in that they work hard to get results.

I agree completely. No one makes it to this level of racing without hard work.

My post was not intended to take away the credits of hard work from other drivers.

The words I used were sense and vision, nothing to do with hard work.

Bump, he is truly the best when the lights go out. I would love to have stats from last year and this year about how many positions he's made up in the first lap.

He consistently gains multiple positions at the start, this year he is working hard through the field during the race too. I can only imagine what he would be doing if he could qualify better

Yes I completely agree with you the man is magician, but for some reason his qualifying is not where it should be. Racewise he knows how to start and immediately gain several positions all while staying out of trouble most of the time. I thought starting in 14th today meant he would be stuck behind some boyscout but he has amazing ability weaving through what he consistently has been going through this season.

Racing-wise against his teammate: by the end of this race today, Nico should be scraping his jaw off the ground at Michael's pace at the end of the race. Nico and Michael were told to conserve fuel, but on the hards Michael was minimum .800 quicker than Nico, Massa, Alonso, and about .100 behind Hamilton........and that was while both were told to conserve fuel. Michael had the 5th quickest time of the race absolutely owned this race today compared to his teammate IMO. Michael would not have hit the podium for MB as Webbo was just too on point, so 4th or 5th was all that was in the cards for MB today. I'm still in awe of that last stint he had though. Wow.

And although Webber didn't have a great start, I think Webber snapped everyone's neck in terms of other people starting to write him off as a competitor this season.

What results would Webber have if the team managed to put all of us car on the grid?

Horner stated that RB was only "4 laps" from choosing the right strategy to win the race. Well, in an additional 4 laps Webber would have gotten by Vettel. Absolutely epic drive from mark to be right behind SV while starting in 18th place. IMO, the star of the race.

Hmmm, starts are suffering and you could see when Webber passed a car that he then struggled a little to maintain that pass out of the next corner.

I personally loved the pass on MS, very decisive :).
