    ooops. I think its NOT a 5000GT!

Thanks to Corrado I received a high-res.-scan of that postcard.

Please note that the rear window of the Allemano-5000 went around (!!) the corners ("c-column). On the card you see the columns clearly.

Then look at the distance from the wheel-arches to the iop of both fenders! Too big on the red car!

Whatever Allemano this is - its not a 5000GT!

    Ciao!

    Great shots!
Is this at the Imperial Palace? Wondering how you were able to get the hood open? Did you just have to tell them who you are? Gotta love those green painted engines. I sure would like to drive one of these, especially to compare to a 3500.

    Thanks for sharing, RF.

I told them who I was and that I needed detail shots so I could compare their car to mine. They were very nice and I was able to take 120 shots over a period of an hour. They had 2 x 5000gts in the show room. The allemano and one frua. I have to admit the Frua looks more impressive up-close.

    Hi Walter,
I only took one shot of the Frua and it's not a good one.I spent most on my time on the Allemano.

That collection of cars is always changing. I remember a few years back they had two Mistrals (one spyder), a birdcage, Sebring II, and a 3500. Nice to see it changing so often

It's a different kind of collection. Everything is for sale, even if it says not for sale. They used to have a similar showroom near the Blackhawk collection, in a shopping mall.

What about this car? A brown Frua with brown interior. Is told to be a 5000GT #100?
Does anybody know of this car?

Of course is the car known. #103.100 was the last 5000GT made and sold via AUTO KÖNIG, the German distributor from Munich, to its 1st owner.

The car was not a "real" 5000GT as it had a 4.7-liter Mexico engine fitted.

The interior is not valour, it's suede. And the trim is gold plated, one of the two versions of this Frua bodied 5000 has a small record player where the glove box should be. As I remember it had a small turntable for 45 singles. It's a wild car

I stand corrected. Still ... it has waaaay too much suede for my taste. When car designers experiment with materials and colors sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. In my opinion this interior does not work, as everything is covered in the same brown material. The problem is it appears to be the way the car left the factory. Do you keep it original (aka: ugly) or change colors and materials?

I saw the car a little over a year ago and it would look great in dark blue with tan leather interior. Keep the gold trims. The standard V8 engine makes it a reliable driver. Could be made into a sweet ride ...

Bob what exactly is "gay looking"?

Do you mean the interior looks happy and cheerful?
Or are you implying the interior of the car looks homosexual?
Or the interior of the car was designed by homosexuals?

I'm curious, but not in the way you may think.

I personally would leave it alone; it is what it is.

    ~Ciao and best!

Client/friend has a 5000GT here in Melbourne, looks a nightmare to restore, only saving grace is its value, otherwise like so many unloved 60s Maserati cars,it would have been chopped up by now.
