Hi All can someone maybe give me an idea as to what my 355 manual is doing?........ when I come off the throttle and am in any gear there is a loud rattle or sort of fluttering sound coming from the engine bay.........when I depress the clutch it stops and when I am in neutral it stops........when I am on the throttle everything is great.....this only started happening today....nothing seems to be loose in the bay.......the rattle sound is louder when the revs are higher....... any ideas anyone? Howard
Mine made a similar noise, came and went intermittently for a few months, then it let go and I lost all the clutch fluid...no more clutch. At the dealer they took it apart and I had the classic cracked throw out bearing assembly. Be sure to replace it with the upgraded Hill Engineering product. Much better quality. Have it inspected before it leaves you stranded like me...
thanks very much guys i will buy a hill engineering bearing and flange hope that cures the rattle Howard
There are a number of bearings in the flywheel and pumpkin. I recall having them all replaced at the same time I had the clutch and throw out bearing done.
You probably do not need the flange. Yuo can save yourself some money if you arrange in advance to return it if it unnecessary. Inspect yours, it is likely fine.
