I was thinking of mentioning it. A good place indeed.

If Winter ever ends here (as much as 9" of snow forecast for tomorrow :() I'll start thinking about a road trip.

Standard engine and Mike Pullen is a contradiction by itself...
everybody knows how they built engines those days in Italy.

Well, the car was originally owned by Frank J.Bradley (registered FJB 1) before Mike, and Frankie never specified a hot motor as far as I know.

Sure, in the mid-1990s. The Goodwood scenario I described was in 1990. I was there.

The ex-Kaiser special-order Countach QV 12292. Perhaps the most unique Countach QV of all (besides the ex-Mimran car).

    Paint - Blu Tahiti # 215854
Interior - Blu con giletti Biachi
    Engine # 1503
    Gearbox # 1316
Ready at the factory - December the 17th 1987
Collected by US steel magnate/hospitals benefactor/Denver Broncos owner Edgar Kaiser, and driven out of the factory gates on EE.556.AK plates. Used for touring Europe then flown to Vancouver.

Wonderful shots in both those posts. The lighting works the bodywork real nice in Joe's shot.

FYI some pics of XWX especially made for use with studs.

    No imagination I guess.

Seems these tires were made for studs if the buyer wanted them. The tires were designed for the addition of studs if the purchaser desired them. Not much unlike todays tire market. Buy a studable tire or buy one with studs already installed. Same tire, just studded by the retailer rather than the factory. Or you can have a "stud" with a stud gun make over your tires!!

Does the designation of a snow tire mean it has studs installed? I don't think that is what was implied in the definition of a snow tire. The studs are simply an adjunct to the tires capabilities.

No Countach related, but snow tyres related :

I've been told that @ 12 years ago a French Comic went to a ski-station w/ his Diablo.

As whe he decided to come back there was snow, he decided to buy "snow chains"...

But he did not find any of the right size if you know what I mean.

    No pb.

He made a clever calculation and decided to buy quite halfe the size chains and to pair them.

    Perfect !

When he began to drive and with the centrifugal force, the chains did break, and exploded all the rear body parts around.

I'd buy into this if I didn't own 1121116. The skin is 1mm and its original engine is an early spec 375 hp. Not sure if the glass is 20% thicker.

Like has been said many times, there are no set rules with old Lambos. There are generalizations of how the factory did things, but there are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule. However, I would bet your engine has somewhere along the line in its very long life, had its engine rebuilt to those specs, because it is far down the line, and I know of a few ahead of yours that have never had the engine out and have the lower output engine.
But it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things because all the Countachs are great, even with all their sometimes inexplicable variations!

Why are you trying to pick a fight? My "..way of thinking..." is clear. There are exceptions to every rule in the old Lambo world. Nobody knows why your car is different. There are many possibilities, including that they had an old LP400 engine laying around when it was time to build your car, or that the guy that ordered it from the factory specifically ordered it that way, or that you might me missing a little part of the service history, or...., or.... ,or ....Whatever! There are infinite possibilities. If you car is different from many before it, that doesn't make all those before it wrong, or me wrong, or your car wrong, or you wrong, or anyone else wrong! It just means that for some reason that none of us will ever know, your car is different from the GENERAL rule. Let's just leave it at that and not try to pick fights over things that nobody will ever know and that are impossible to know for sure after several decades from a company that broke its own rules all the time back them. OK? Be thankful that you have a great Countach, as that by itself is a blessing.

Had you not posted what seemed black or white on the 400S, I would not have replied.

I know you were trying to be a smarty pants and picking a fight, but ......backfire......your suggestion is another of the infinite possibilities. There are documented (and almost certainly undocumented as well) examples of older cars returning to the factory to be rebuilt or upgraded, then being sold a later date with as a brand new "different" car with a different VIN.
