599 GTO a collectors car, comprehension with a 288 GTO

i am very interested to get your point of view. Is the 599 GTO a collectors car just like the 288 GTO or the 250 GTO? I am really not sure if this car will keep it´s value over the years. I would say it´s a car to use not to collect and the possibility that you will find a 599 GTO for half the price during the next 5 years is very high but maybe I am wrong? If you compare the historical value with a F430 Scuderia 16 M spider what would you say? There are only 499 Scuderia Spider but 599 GTOs so this will definitely effect the price

Both the Scud and 16M are modified 430's and over 1000 +++ spiders were built. There are only , hopefully 599 GTO's built based on the 599XX. The 599 GTB/HGTE have as much in common with the GTO. As you or I have in common with alien lifeforms. At double the price point of a mod 430 and only the third of three models ever badged GTO in Ferrari's history. This discussion comes up at least once a month and has resurrected itself once again from the dead. What will the 599 GTO be worth in five years? Who knows. Try 25 years and let history make the decision.

 

I can not tell you if the car will hold, decrease or increase its value over the years,
Time will show us!

I think any modification to this car will decrease its value,
since Ferrari took a lot of thought while designing it,
even the tires dimensions are specifically and carefully chosen!

PS: I strongly believe that the 360 CS and the 430 Scud/16M
will become highly desired collectibles in the next few year, especially that
the future Ferrari V8 models are tending towards greenness, quietness and gentleman manners

 

They're all collectors cars - though none just like the other.

Even at this early stage the GTO is nearly impossible to find let alone afford. Most people are having to pay a premium of over 200k to even have a chance of acquiring this incredible machine. Time will tell where prices will be in the near future or even further down the road. The real test is after driving one you can ever drive another car and ever be the same .

what with heisenberg, chaos, etc ...

It is certainly true that a successful track record of past predictions is no indicator of future success ... but it is equally true that a rotten track record of past predictions gives zero confidence in future predictions

guess what i'm saying is this : to anyone who believes they can predict the future price of limited edition, ultra-high performance automobiles from any of the top marques, i'd first ask to see the written, time-stamped record of how successful they've been in the past. Failure in the past means discard for sure, success in the past means discard with high confidence

The 599 GTO is a very special machine indeed ... that's something i can say with very high confidence indeed

 

I think that my GTO will still be worth the same price I paid for it several hours earlier.

For investment, I would go with a 288 GTO -- part of the Ferrari extreme "super car" chain.

The 599 GTO and SA Aperta will probably retain value better than the 599 GTB, but ultimately they will all be superseded by the 599 replacement with newer technology/styling.

Probably a good point of reference is the F512M -- last iteration of the TR, rarer, usually put away as a collectible so they are always available in pristine condition.

Personally, I would put my money in vintage. Even if that only means owning 1/2 or 1/3 of a car (if profit is you main focus).

If minimizing depreciation with a modern ferrari is your concern,... consider a 550/575 or a 360CS.

A great choice to avoid depreciation IMHO... 550 Barchetta.
