I hope that the local edition will still be around when I come back, buying it just for our boys here :)

I buy a lot of magazines @ the discount stores here & past issues of motherland Octane, Top gear, Evo, Total911, Excellence etc are just RM9.90 in Malaysia. Happened to pick up 30 copies of NOS 90s Forza @ RM3 each over the weekend!

Let me know if you guys are magazine-freaks, I'll pass you the addresses.

Harold, don't blame the journalists. Who's to take the rep if anything happens across the border? Anyway, at least 50% of the cars stay on the island and a chunk of exotic car owners aren't even willing to drive up Malaysia, not to mention tracking it. So, perhaps the local magazines appeal to the right audience?

Jon, I don't have a problem with shallow motoring journalism- that's why I don't buy local magazines with the exception of Rewind Magazine. But the sad part is Evo is to me one of the best mags out there, and they are now diluting the mag with shallow local content. If they want, they should talk about relevant local issues like COE or the Singapore track or road tax, or coverage of local events such as a Ferrari club gathering, Ferrari club drive to Malaysia (like they did an article in Rewind on a PCS drive) or an ECC drive, or a BMWSG meet up at Kallang or a PCS track day, hence giving the local content that we would be interested in, and leave the real motoring journalism to those that actually drive the cars properly and can allow us to live vicariously through the journalists emotions and words.

Honestly, they should have perhaps asked Lung for more detailed feedback about the driving experiences and conveyed that in their own words. Just take a look at a Chris Harris article. Or even a shallow article by Richard Hamond. It genuinely leaves you feeling that you are there, and have a genuine impression of the car.

hahaha, I know your feel mate but too much of exotic coverage & it'll be considered a snob when 90% of the population gets by with regular transport. To be honest, I've only received the free SEs EVO from PCS & the PCM sends me TopGear from Malaysia. (while I think UK TG mag is crap with 3/4 being ads) Do u know that Hypertune (a mostly Jap cars+accessories mag) sales has dropped over 50% since? Probably due to internet age. The print business is not easy to maintain, just ask SPH.

But, I'm most surprised with Porsche specialist magazines, they could write 10x as much about 911 as the variant has yet you don't feel bored! Perhaps you could send an email to them & they may consider your POVs?

Do u think I should plead EVO sg to let me contribute an article on our trip to Mille Miglia? or which mag should I approach? I think the road trip after the event would be quite an adventure too.

Chris, RH, JC, JayL etc are quite entertaining in their own right but they are in the heart of motoring cities with easy access to factory & roads. Hell, they could even do stunts with fighter jets! Too much red tape being on this small island, we even get famous for parking wrongly :D

On a final note, it could be the editors & owner. One of my motoring journo friend was replaced by a fashion chief . That's why Eli of Rewind can do what he pleases since he owns it.

    I believe you

I never bother to even flip through the local copies. Did so once in 2000 and that was it absolutely rubbish and the engrish was so bland. Some Euro/US magazines are nice, read them once and you will leave them on a nice coffee table at home. Locals ones? They send you free copies to your home, you shuffle through it and it gets dumped in the maids room ready for disposal. Sometimes your maid might even take it to orchard road to let their prime audience (ah nei bf read)

See what I mean? Someone should have been more discriminating about giving magazine interviews...tsk tsk ;)

Happy Easter folks! I ran into a bunch of SG-reg Porsches at the Ritz Kuala Lumpur today; made me remember the time I ran into a some AMGs (also from SG) several months back:

    Sono il diavolo ;)

Yeah like real. All of us always say that.....

now, let's get some mods in place :D

DMS etc it, switch out the stock filters & if you feel rich, drop the GruppeM in. Fit Corsas for TDs & some guys even do the hifi thing. U can also change to alcantara steering wheel and after market carbon package.
