Just sitting here sleepless and was thinking, I've got nearly a dozen free greens fees that expire to my local club here, River Creek. I can't golf this year personally as I'm injured, need a new hip, which is actually why I'm up right now typing instead of sleeping. Anyway, I thought I'd put this out there. How many would be interested in putting together a Ferrari meet and golf tournament? Since I can't play, I can host !! I'd throw in maybe eight rounds right off the top and hope to get maybe 4 groups of four on the course to make it interesting, put together a decent buffet on the veranda overlooking the Potomac for some modest fee per head to the club. Sound like fun?

No rules, just fun, if we can get enough people together to make it work. Need at least 4 scramble teams to have a decent outing, or maybe just a dozen if we do teams of two in a chapman or something. Fchat on the Potomac :) My other concern is that if I give away eight greens fees, I don't want the club getting upset that I'd doing an entire outing with free passes. I think 16 is a good target. Might be hard to pull off though.

No Ferrari here yet, but I'm always up for golf, seeing nice cars, and meeting new folks.
Please keep me informed as I would be game.

Awesome. We'll just form teams based on the most equal handicaps we can assemble and do basic scramble, so no worries about being a great golfer. We'll even the teams up best we can.

I actually just thought of something else. I have promo balls I can give away as well. I bought $3000 in logo ProV1's that I normally give away in business outings, but can't this year. So screw it. To each player, a six pack of logo ICS Pro V promo balls. How's them apples?

Small world, my uncle lives in River Creek. I think he mentioned seeing your old 360 a while back and I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I'd come up for this, but I haven't picked up a golf club in 4 years and the last time I did I ended up hitting some poor guys house.

    Is your uncle a golfer?

Warm up and make the trip. I wish I were coming down your way. I really do. I'm trying to convince my wife to do Ferrari's On The Vine, but she just isn't motivating enough to find a sitter for the kids. Shame. She and I could both use the down time.

I'd be interested as well. I'm by no means a good golfer, but this sounds like it might be a good time.
    Please keep us updated.

I golf and a proud 308 owner. :) My problem is that most of my current funds are going to the remodeling of my house and my schedule is tight. If the timing and price is good I'm in...

Great! We're making progress. Keep the good news coming everyone. I would not say that everyone coming needs to golf, not by any stretch. Definitely putting together a nice luncheon as well with a fantastic view overlooking the River. But we do need 16 golfers out there to make this a decent outing. Again can't stress enough also how unimportant your level of golf. In a scramble, you're just hitting from the best shot each time, so everyone starts fresh each shot. Hope springs eternal :)

I'll give you a free greens pass and 6 proV's for bringing that gorgeous 308. I don't really see why you'd need to stay for the buffet if you didn't want to either, but we'd love to have you, and that would be your only expense. I'm doing this because I have so many freebies lying around, it would be a shame to let them expire. As for the balls, I buy 80 6 ball boxes every other year, and if I try really hard, even with this, I'll use half what I normally do in a year. They have value, but I won't care three years from now at reorder time. I'm hoping half the field will pay greens fees to make the club happy, but I've got a dozen total and am willing to give out eight of them for this. I'll guarantee you one if you bring that 308.

Last year's FOTV was fantastic, unfortunately they lost a key member this year.

    I'll think about coming up.

    Outstanding, sir.

Talked to the clubhouse today to start looking at dates and menus. Might have to go a ways out to find a date that works for all. Might as well put it out there now that we might have to do this on a weekday, Monday or Friday hopefully. Does that give anyone heartburn?

I would love to play, actually, not a bad golfer. However, I tore my bi-cep tendon in my left arm back in March, just starting to lift under 5 pounds with the arm again. Won't be able to go back to work full time at the firehouse until late June, early July.
Thanks for sharing with the gang!!

Nice idea. I have played at golf since I was about 7 years old. Peaked in my 20s and couldn't care less. I am now able to laugh at my bad shots (usually) and that is a good thing as there are more of them now-a-days. It sucks how life gets int he way of fun sometimes.

    I'm in!

I'm expecting presently some proposed menus for a buffet as well as available dates for a 16 person tournament. Keep the interest coming. 16 golfers, more the merrier for the buffet, and all the ferraris we can muster.

Hopefully not everyone will loose 6 ProV's in the first nine, but I'll keep a few extra six packs handy as boobie prizes at the turn.

This is a great idea and I would love to meet some other Ferrari owners and other car enthusiasts. Hopefully the date will coordinate with my schedule. Count me in.
