It is a real shame and pity. I don't think this is common on the 355 or is it? A 360 once also burnt itself on the Kowloon side and that case got complicated with the father standing in for the son. Anyone recalls?

Thought the CS burnout was somewhere along King's Road too? Correct me if I'm wrong...

Ah, all clear. Seems like people remember these rare Ferrari flaming up around town. Also a pity.

You asked about the car and I corrected you that it was not a 360. It was my friend's car - of course I would remember. Any car can have a fuel leak and the results will be disaster if the leak hits something hot on the exhaust. Will always be a risk on a rear or mid-engine car especially

It takes something like a Pagani to be rare in this town. Driving from happy valley to the peak (via repulse bay) this afternoon, quite an eyeful even by jaded HK standards: a sky blue (azzuro california?) Daytona, a red 550 barchetta (beautiful car but had an awkward hardtop attached), silver late 50's vintage 190sl, 2 rapides, a yellow and a red 458, yellow 355, a DBS, a dark red SLS, and then a murcielago! Never mind the various 911s and C63s.

Even 458s are getting "common". Older Ferraris like my 430 and 360 are a dime a dozen.

    Whew.

Actually I'm always a bit curious about this and chatted w/ various motorheads and here're our speculations:

#1: Given that the Gallardo is the 1st ever 'smaller' modern lambo that is more suitable for places like Hong Kong, it's natural to attract many more new customers

#2: Lambo was really flooding the markets, meeting *ALL* demands. i.e. You want one, you'll get one. Waitinglist doesn't mean much in lambo-land...

#3: The Lambo drivers/owners are more 'devoted' than the typical Tifosi! This is actually my personal experience: Most of my fellow tifosi couldn't care less/are too lazy to wake up early for a SMD while I know of at least two Lambo owners who're regular SMD participants.

    #4: They're just a lot more showy! :)

Or most long-time Ferrari owners remember the good old days when SMD was actually fun and don't enjoy the recent reality of SMD with lasers, police, congested SMD destinations, etc

Very good point. Having said that I would imagine SMD still provides a good opportunity for stretching the leg of your car and to meet/chat w/ fellow motorheads?

#3 Yup, thats me. Cant get out of bed on a sunday morning!

#4 The cars or the owners?

Certainly the F-Cars are a bit more "stylishly understated" where the Lambos are much more "aggressive" looking.
