show of hands - willing to sell your nice 360 for $65,000?

I have been reading a lot of posts here telling me in no uncertain terms that there are MANY nice 360s available for WELL under $70,000.

I don't believe it.

So, I would like to take a count of people willing to sell their nice 360 for $65,000.

We'll define nice as under 20,000 miles, reasonable colors (no blue exterior green interior cars need apply), remaining clutch reasonable, not in dire need of belts, no serious damage history, early cars with appropriate updates, nice body-paint-interior, and at least one of the 3 major options (Daytonas, shields, grills).

So, just looking to take a count. How many of you are willing to sell such a car (that you actually own) for $65,000?????

 

If I needed the money and wanted to move on to something else, yes I would. Only reason it's not for sale (and hopefully never will be) is bc I LOVE her!

 

$70k can buy you a very nice 360 Coupe that is clean, has a few options, good colors, and an F1 with sub 10k miles. I have found consistently that offers lower than $70k cannot get the deals done. $65k is no doubt the BEST of the deals and not worth waiting for at a 7% price difference. You could shop forever and there are so many for sale with so few buyers.

I was asked last week if I wanted to sell my 360, I said "No way"! If I did sell it I would have a hard time deciding what to replace it with. I love mine!

 

I seriously cannot think of another car I'd rather have besides another Ferrari (or a gallardo or murcielago or diablo), and any Ferrari I'd take over the 360 costs a lot more.

 

Barring extraneous circumstances such as needing $$ for lifesaving procedures/operations, etc... sell my red, racing seat, gated shifter car...

I would say $80k is a more realistic number.

 

Mine is a 2002 eurospec 6spd red with black interior, 9,000 miles (just turned the clock yesterday), zero accidents, every single service documented since new, belts, tensioners, coolant, oil all new 4 months ago, super clean, wonderful in every way.

For a sale end of summer 2011:
$80K+ yes
$78K maybe
$65K no way

 

I've got a US market 2002 F1 Modena - Grigio Titanio / Nero with 30k miles. The car has factory shields and challenge grill, clean history with no accidents, as well as a documented service history and a complete major just done at Ferrari a couple of weeks ago. I think aside from ratty cars, "well below $70k" 360s don't exist.

I've been looking for a car and I've seen a few cars that I'd consider owning right at 70K. But they've had more than 20,000 miles on them. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a car with under 20K miles, recent service and good color and options for 65K.

 

When I was shopping 7 or 8 months ago, i looked at two coupes in the 70s. In my limited experience, when you actually go look at these cars, you find all kinds of stuff.

One fairly nice completely stock '99 red/tan F1 with 35k miles and good records. Trouble was, one rear quarter, the deck lid, and the rear bumper were painted to an average standard with no information about the reason. I got them down to 69 IIRC, but passed in the end.

The other (75 ask) was a '00 silver/black, 6sp, challenge grill, tubi w/15k miles. It had so much paint work I lost track of what was original and repaint as I walked around the car. Looked awesome on the web site though. I offered something ridiculous (55?) but wasn't serious.

I paid 83 for an '01 ti/nero, full exhaust (tubi-hyperflow-tubi), 20k miles, 8 months on major from Competizione with latest variators, fresh clutch w/hill engineering throwout, spare factory leather for the seats, 2 spare wheels, original headers, fresh brakes, front balljoints, etc., blinding perfection. Nicest 10 year old car I've ever seen. I have the undertrays off right now and marvel at how clean it is. Have not regretted "overpaying" one bit.

I think the OP missed a key word in his title, which should have read as follows:

Willing to sell your nice EARLY 360 for $65,000? . Of course an owner of an '04 example wouldn't blink with anything less than 6 figures. The devil is in the details < ha ha>.

i got my 99 with 22K miles for close to the lower price point, but after doing a major service i would not sell it for anywhere close. My deal was also confused b/c i traded a vintage v12, and got cash back.

I spent time shopping, and I think the current market is:

70-75k for cars with higher mileage and some needs
80-90K for good cars, no major needs, but earlier vintage
95 -105K for later spiders and 04 coupes, with super low mileage and current service
anything above 110K is a CS, or something from a time capsule

I find this is a phenomenon not just unique to Ferraris, but to internet car forums in general.

Doesnt matter what it is. If its used Kias that you *know* always go for around $10k, according to forum wisdom, they are going for "$5k all day long"

I think some of it is vocal "wannabe" buyers who want it to be true...

Some of it is the "deal of a century" instances getting undue attention b/c of the web (same story repeated over and over of the "super deal")

A lot of it is eBay where people quote current auction state even though 99.9% of the time reserve doesnt get met and auction doesnt end in a sale

And much of it is cars with lots of stories, lots of work needed, and lots of everything going for a cheap price and then being represented by the new buyer as a CREAM PUFF.

In the past, without the web, there wasnt this level of communication and there wasnt as much opportunity for information to become mis-information - its a new phenomenon.

When I was buying my 911, according to the entire forum world I was supposed to be able to get it for a bunch less than what I paid. Wasnt happening. I finally bought a great car that was in great shape and certified pre owned for a price *I* felt was good. When I sold it a couple of years later, I got more than what I was supposed to have *paid* two years prior.

I dont know where these mythical deals are, if they do exist, but they sure as hell dont come my way! If I were so lucky as to be in the market for an early 360, Id be banking on spending around $75k and wouldnt be a stickler over mileage (I dont consider >20k "high"). I think thats realistic.

What you have written is absolutely true!

Somebody else's car is either too expensive to sell,
or this somebody else was ripped off in broad daylight ! ! !
But aren't we all a little bit Mr.-Know-It-All

My experience in selling my motorcycles or cars up till now was always "be patient",
and I never tried selling them on a forum, that will depreciate the price BIG TIME,
because the endless discussions will end up causing (I want to say) unintended harm!

If the product is worth it and is not extremely dreamy overpriced,
then it will always find an individual that is ready to pay the price tag.
. . . Sooner or later

Extremely cheap deals never crossed my way either,
I never seem to stumble on an emergency sell as well,
I think, I either live in the wrong place or my expectations are too high.
. . . But never say never . . .

Anyways, money talk should remain anonymous,
a forum must be there to enjoy and share a common hobby,
money ruins it all . . . Most of the time

I have this car right where I want it. $70k would not work for me. But its not for sale any way so its a moot point.

 

It was my experience 1 1/2 years ago when shopping that the stick cars were about $10K more- either due to rarity, lower maint costs, or a combo.

Either way, with an F1 or stick, sometimes you get lucky and can get a good price for a nice car, but in general and much much more often than not, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

I'd much rather have a fully sorted out mint 360 coupe F1 or stick for $85,000 than a ratty one for $65,000 that costs $10,000 to bring up to mechanical snuff (say worn clutch, needed major and other stuff), still has marks/blemishes (i.e. isn't "mint") and is still worth $65,000 AFTER the $10,000 of needed and deffered maint.

My dollar numbers are just for illustration, but you get the point
