Hi Guys, i am in discussions with the owner of this F355 http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?Cr=0&R=9565155&keywords=&trecs=14&__sid=12F8C593B0D2&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__Qpb=true&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&seot=1&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294966380%204294966369&silo=1011 is this a known car to anyone? if so any info would be greatly appreciated.
Don't have much input, only that its been for sale for many months. You know what they say about the 95's, the valve guides can be suss.
I'll do a pap and post **** about **** I don't know about. Isn't the gts the poor cousin to the coupe and spider? Offer him $50k looney.
Wake up to yourself. The 355 GTS is the most rare of all the standard 355s. Even rarer in the F1 flappy paddles. They are a HOT item in the USA, but not so much here in Oz, well................on this forum anyways. They flex more than a coupe, but not as much as a Spider. The best of both worlds...............if you're gay. Good luck with it Looney, I know you always wanted a 355.
a ferrari is on my Bucket List nobody is buying cars at the moment (my GT3 is the cheapest in Aus, and im only getting tyre kickers) just looking for something else to interest me for a couple of years. but if the car is not the right one i wouldnt do it. just checking on the VIN now for Carl888
So you haven't driven one? The only advice I can offer is don't buy a Ferrari just because it's cheap. You better make sure you like it first. A 355 targa after a 2004 GT3? hmmm. That's a tough one.
Hold on there Pappy. I spent a significant amount of time in a 355 GTS F1 as a teenager (there was one in the family) and just because it is rare does not make it good. Some observations: 1. when the targa roof is on, it's annoying as hell. It incessently squeaks against the windshield frame, and it can be like driving around with someone constantly squeezing a squeaky toy in your ear. If you are used to Porsche ambience, this will irritate. (I remember reading somewhere that there is some sort of solution to fixing it, but we never bothered because the car wasn't used much) 2. Flex is flex. 3. The F1 transmission was amongst the first of it's kind in a road car. In the comparative sense, it is absolutely terrible compared to present day transmissions. Even back then, I would call it agricultural. When moving off gently from lights, it would shudder, when doing low speed manouvres (such as in a petrol station) it would bunny hop, and when just driving, it would kick you in the back on gear changes. It also broke a few times. disclaimer: I have not driven one, I don't profess to know exactly what they are like. These are just my observations from several thousand km of pax rides in a 355 GTS F1 that was in my family and many discussions with the owner about it.
IMHO GTS is the worst of both worlds - you get the chassis flex of an open car, but without the full open car experience that a GTS provides. Perhaps the reason why Ferrari stopped making GTS models ? M
PLEASE re-read my post. Where did I say it was good?? Thats right, I didnt say it was good. I was just re-posting what I have read here over the years. I also didnt want to totally scare him off with the noisey and leaking roof targa roof, but thanks. And why is that PP?? Care to explain that one? In the US, the GTS commands more of a premium as it is the most rare 355 model. The "best of both worlds" they say over there. I never said it was the case here in Oz. If you didnt already know, I read lots of posts in the 348/355 section everyday. They love them over there, I wouldnt own one myself. I also hear from owners who say the GTS flexes more than a coupe, but not as much as Spider. Sounds like they have obviously driven them all. I personally dont care what they flex like, I was just stating what I have read here many times from actual owners here on the forum. I also dont know or care why that GTS is "cheap for a reason" here in Oz. I never commented on it in my post. That paticular car is probably crap and the price reflects it. But again, I cant confirm that. I was just sharing what I read in the other sections. Right or wrong, make with it what you will. And btw.......... Wake up to yourself.
Yeah flex is a real issue on Lyon street where these things spend all there time. You can temporarily solve the squeaking of the roof panel with vaseline applied at the appropriate points.
Lol, yeah. Just saying. Would adding vasoline to the required areas to stop the squeaking just attract dust/crap over time?
of course...but lotus elise to GT3....and then a 355GTS? *shudder* no. I just like making fun of you.
