Back in March, I bought this 348FC that has not seen the inside of a service bay for 11 years. It came in the garage, went on the lift and stayed there since then. I have a real job, a second job as a husband, a thrid job as daddy, went on 2 business trips and a 10 day vacation in France, and barely found enough time to get to the 348.

    But, it is almost there.

So, here is the car on the rack and the lump on the ground.

Raising the bar? I am not the one who disassembles his 348 heads to clean the carbon off his exhaust valves!!!

Creative use of furniture dollies, plural. I have a bigger one, reinforced with 2 additional wheels so that I can move the engine around so my other car can still fit in the garage at night.

The same big dolly is used as a second set of wheels so that we can push the 348, without engine and suspension, forward over the lift and the garage door can close again.

What is really creative is the use of 2 strings tied to 2 nuts, hanging off the 2 frame mounting bolts, used to line up the sub frame so that we can get the engine to within 1/4 inch of where we need it to be.

The other lesson I learned is the left hand side engine harness is impossible to get back in without dropping the gas tank 1/4 of an inch.

oh yes, new coolant hoses except for the super expensive ones. I had to cut most of those before they would come off anyway. And, I joined the Ernie club with both my radiators showing some signs of leaks. But, I am going to let that sleeping dog lie for now. Also inspected the cam pulley fences. They were all good and showing no signs of breakage at all. That dog is not sleeping, there is not even a dog there.

Update: The beast runs, fires up, responds well to the throttle. No ABS light, no CEL light, no leaks, no bad smokes.

I need to chase down 2 issues:

    1. The heater control did not work, I think I got the wires or connectors wrong when i did the sticky thingy.
    2. Must bleed the coolant. At idle it creeps up to almost 3/4 of the guage and the fans have not turned on.
