FWIW: I tried out a spec with the Grigio Silverstone and with the dark wheels, no shields, and felt it was too stealthy and plain when I specced a car on the configurator at the private preview in Feb in NJ. It was just too much grey and no accent for my taste, but your mileage will obviously vary.

I also thought that while I don't care for the shields so much on my 612, I felt the shields on the FF looked like they actually fit in on the FF with the way they fit so cleanly into that little fold of the body on the fender. This is the first car in maybe forever that I thought the shields actually worked with the overall design of the car. They offer a nice compliment to the yellow caps on the wheels. Again just my opinion...

Am reminded of that great dog commercial "Worry, worry, worry " Moving the bone to different hiding places ! I really appreciate your insight, stealth I like, plain I don't.

Still have at least 3 weeks or more to decide. Keep the advise coming !

I saw your 612 in Acquia Madre, Santa Fe a couple of Xmas's ago under a blanket of snow. We have a house just off Canyon Road. My wife was most impressed with a Ferrari winter driver !

Yeah, it’s a tough compromise to get right. Going in I really thought I'd want to go with the Grigio Silverstone, dark wheels, no shields, and silver wheel caps, until I specced it on the configurator they had there. When I saw the car in person and realized how well the shields work with the car in person, it totally messed with my head. I'm now thinking this car really looks best with the shields.

We'll be at the Atelier next week to do some more research and will let you know what we think after we’ve had a chance to really look and discuss our options carefully. I’m torn between Rubino Micalizzatto, TDF Blue, and the new Grigio Ferro, and am intrigued by all the videos I’m seeing of the new red. I loved the new leather colors and texture, but am also a pretty big fan of simple Nero leather interior.

I'm so jealous of you for your house in Santa Fe. We loved it there on Canyon Rd during Xmas especially!! I got some great pics of our car with blankets of snow on it. Can't wait to go back with an FF and do it right! The 612 did well, but it'll be really nice to go out whenever we want, irrespective of the weather. Not that the weather held us back much with the 612.

All three of you guys are making me so excited! I sure hope you all will chronicle every adventure in your wonderful cars :) Again, big congrats.

Eric- How does Rubino Mecallizzatto compare to the new Rosso Maranello? They both are very rich and deep reds

The new seven year free servicing is going to make owning all the new Ferraris much more bearable and should have a positive affect on resale, too. The free servicing stays with the car for, apparently, no charge.

Reds are a little too much on this type of car, in my opinion.

    I did:
Cana di fucile with charcoal leather, Bordeaux stitching and aluminium coloured rev counter
5 star wheels in silver, aluminium clippers, sports exhaust tips, cana di fucile wheel centres

No scudetto shields, no rear wiper

Very nice spec. I would agree with the reds being a little much for the GTs, as I don't really like it much on anything from the 612 to the 330GT, but the Rosso Maranello from what I have seen in pictures and video is really great on the FF. Grigio silverstone, canna di fucile, these are great bets too, I can't wait to see them

Keep me posted. Appreciate your views on Grigio S. Grigio S looks good on the 599, less so on the 458.
I am now focused on Grigio FF/Canna de fucile or make a real statement with Blu America.
For sure I will have Cuoio Toscana interior.
I saw all six at Maranello and Grigio FF/Blu America were favorites. Rosso Maranello is very personal choice, metallic reds on large cars is an issue for me
Spring has arrived in Santa Fe, about time !

Nice spec, the allumino rev counter a nice touch. What is your opinion of cars without the chrome edge grill. Not many photos. What did you specify.

Oh, I should have added that I took the chrome edged grill. Having seen both versions in the flesh it is a necessity especially with a dark colour. Many folks are opting for the shields. I find them quite out of place given the type of car that the FF is and the fact that it is everything but a track car. Also, in my view, the lines of the car are purer without them.

Actually, I choose not to have the rear wiper for much the same reason, as it spoils the style of the rear, that I find to be spectacular...and anyway, as Raul Julia said (as he sat in the Daytona Spider) in the movie, the Gumball Rally:

"What is behind, my friend, is not important....!"

Do you forsee any problems with rear visibility if driven in the snow?

"And what is in front will soon be behind " ANON

Thank you for very useful comments. Yes the only car with no chrome grill was a light silver I think at the Maranello launch.
Are you in MODIS and if so will you get the car before the summer break. The earliest for me is a September build.

I'm not sure that alcantara would hold a lot of dust like that.

No and I think leather headliner is a little too much. Compared to the 458 there is acres to be covered !

Alcantara does not develop a static charge like mohair, so not a problem. It was just a funny story.

Cariad- Your 575M had a leather headliner, but it was a lot shorter than the one in the FF will be. More like your 458's.

Does it matter what color you get the FF in?

    He shoots and he scores.

Agreed, must admit from certain angles the FF does look fairly good. I dont recall Nikkis making a constructive post in the FF section....

Not to worry. He won't have any frustrations as there aren't any left other than a lingering doubt that he has made a poor judgement call!

You forgot the about. When attempting to cut others down to size, it is best to not cut yourself down to size, in the process.

It continually amazes me that a simple post can turn into such BS
