As predicted most of the front runners doing one lap to save a set of tyres. RBR front row. This saving of tyres will probably kill the intense qual battles Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fairly expected qualifying, except for Nico taking P3. Does anyone have any info on why Massa did not set a Q3 time? Simply saving tires? Either way, Ferrari has a lot of work to do. Congrats to Vettel for absoluting killing the field; Webber must be just shaking his head knowing he cannot keep pace with the same car. Mark
Not to defend MS, but his Q2 time was much more competitive than his Q3 time. From that, I believe it shows MS has pace, but he simply erred in Q3 or is saving a set of tires. He, obviously, is not what he use to be, but he can still drive the car. Mark
Fun qualifying session. Still wondering what happened to Schu or his car that made him so slow in Q3 compared to Q2. Either he froze and made a mistake or something went south on the car :/
Here it is. Schu saying something about him losing grip as he pushes harder and they were unable to get the same grip they could earlier. Well, hoping for a good race and at least we know the W02 is not the dog some people said it to be.
I Isn't that what every driver says? They always blame the car. When was the last you heard a driver say they are struggling?
I wouldn't argue that Rosberg has regularly been quicker in qualifying form only, but it is very odd that Schu's Q3 lap was so substantially slower than his Q2 lap. Every qualifying session this year has been something going awry with the car, but the week always starts with him running well. Whether it's the wing, kers, or both he has certainly had some bad luck in there. I was hoping for him to at least beat Alonso for 5th spot but evidently something wasn't there for him..... Schu is in a very different F1 than what he knows and I think this generational difference is what we are seeing here. It could be safe to say Schu is the master of the V10 super F1 cars with big fat front tires and blisteringly quick pace. A driver sort of wrestled the car around a track hoping they don't go off with all that power, while now with less downforce, smaller front tires, and less powerful engines it is all about surgical precision on one's lap which might be something Schu just hasn't got in him to change for.
