It is and he's worth the codling. I think that Nico is the only driver who both knows how to put aside his ego and has the ability to win.

Has anyone considered that Alonso (secretly) likely wants to be a RBR driver. How long is Alonso's contract again?

That would free up a seat for Webber...

Alonso, who can't abide a strong #2 wants to team up with Vettel?

He'll burn that bridge once across!

Doesn't every F1 driver want to be in the best car? Maybe I'm wrong, but I wouldn't place Alonso amongst driver's likely to be loyal to a losing team for long.

Since we're talking about next season we can't be sure that the RB will still be as dominant while we can be certain that Seb will. Alonso risking being #2 in a second rate car? I don't see it.

RBR with Newey vs. Ferrari with Luca and Domenicalli. Tough call?

nope, Massa is driving faster than ever, the Ferraris are not qualifying well and Alonso needs a guy who is slower ... Ferrari driving stable seems set for a while yet :)

Massa is no longer pulling his weight. While Alonso needs a docile #2, Massa doesn't cover his back.

I'm pretty sure Ferrari will send him on his way by the end of the year (then again I've been saying this for years).

I like Alonso as you know, but if he's that good why does he need a tailgunner ?

I'd feel embarrassed to have someone minding my tail unless my car had a problem

it just doesn't make sense to have team mates taking points off each other if the idea is to win. that's the reality...like it or not.

It's not an accident that MS did it so successfully with Ferrari and I'm sure it's part of what annoyed the crap out of Alonso at McLaren. Sharing points with team mates cost Alonso AND Hamilton the championship.

That's why Webber would have been perfect. Fast enough to keep everyone else back but not consistently fast enough to really challenge Alonso. That's why he's perfect at Red Bull as well. With Massa, even if Ferrari had the fastest car on the grid, they'd never win the WCC because he's so far behind Alonso. He's really not doing a heck of a whole lot out there anymore...
