......... and I e-jack-ulate everytime I think what I paid for it.
I would be very interested to know what its replacement value would be in your eyes. You & I have spoken about this via e-mail, but I consider that to be a confidential communication. Would you be comfortable discussing what you think yours, and other S1s are worth.? The reason I ask this is because I spoke to another gentleman who has owned a very nice S1 for 26 years (he does not know you) and he gave me a valuation that is exactly the same as the one you last gave me! Perhaps great minds think alike?
Joe, ......AND the one I gave you was LAST year, this is a whole 'nother year! You know as well as I do that once a person put a figure on something, then the debate and controversy starts.........so, I'm all in. lol Sadly, I would turn down the $500,000 we discussed last year. For 2 reasons, another year has gone by. And every year that does go by, the car is more valuable to me. I also put a boat load of work into it in the last 12 months. Even Jim K. had seen the car during that time. I will see the car for the first time in the next 7 days. It will be one of the 40 or 50 Countachs displayed next weekend at a private 40th in NY. There, Valentino will be reunited with the car. I truely believe that all 10 or so 1978 cars should be the most valuable Lamborghini, more than the SV. Even if I did not own one. It was those 10 cars that changed the world.....forever. It was the number produced. It's the all around performance, 4.0, Bravos, SW, weight, ride height, and so on. Because the red one was production #1 and my production #2 was first completed S.....to me these 2 are the Holy Grail. But keep in mind, I'm not just saying that because I own one. It's no secret my favorite is an LP400 and I would rather have that. they were 100k at the time and I just could not afford that. I would sell any other Countach to have that, but not my blue one. The red one is in Japan, museum as I last heard, and will never be for sale, at least in my life time. Or at least will never leave that part of the earth. So, that leaves mine, a blue one......I'd feel like a ****** if I ever sold it.

500k? Holy Sh$#. I would have figured $300k. Good for you Peter. One story told to me by a Fchatter was about a 70 Hemi Cuda convertible that he bought new. He paid $4000 for it off the dealers lot. Drove it through college and sold it several years later for a sum less than he paid. Ugh. A friend of my parents had a 289 Cobra (a real one), and sold it for 6k. It didn't exactly blow off the shelf at that price, lol, but WAS cheaper than a new 77 Corvette. Chad B had a 250 GTO that he drove on the street. Now that would be a price I would love to hear.
If you are talking about me, Chadbourn Bolles, and the Ferrari GTO that I bought in 1965, for $18,000.00 and sold it later that year for $19,000.00. Chadbourn Bolles Chad B had a 250 GTO that he drove on the street. Now that would be a price I would love to hear.[/QUOTE]
Wow, guys, that's great. But who knew? To be honest, I'm not anywhere near the richest guy on this board but in this case the money is soooo unimportant. I mean, what am I going to do with the money? Pay off my small mortgage and debts and buy an F40 or an lp400? Invest in the market? Yeah right. The problem of buying another Countach, it's not the bue one. I could go after the Bertone cars
Peter, i doubt you could get 500k$ at the moment for the S1, but i hope they will be worth that much someday to me they are special cars and, even if i do think the LP400 will always be more expensive than the S1, i like the latter more! as for selling...well a thing that is interesting to me about cars is to try different ones and enjoy the experience an F40 sure looks like a good option
as much as i love countach, the miura changed the supercar world and is (at least!) as important in supercar history and evolution as the LP400 or LP400S...most would say more important
I remember having interest in a classic LP 400. At the time, the market did not have a lot of cars for sale. I remember a silver/tobacco LP 400, that was for sale in Sweden ? I think the seller wanted 90,000 euros ? I also remember the yellow/tan LP 400 in LA, with the escort radar detector, that was built-in to the dash and a ding on the fender. The seller, did not return calls. Just after the red/black Fox car was sold, the LP 400 market, simply departed Cape Canaveral. Years ago, I asked Peter, if he would be interested in a nice SE 30 . At the time, Peter was unmoved and did not care to talk. I guess nothing is new ? I also asked about the Anderson car, that is located in CO. David did not want to sell the car. I spoke to the owner of the Anderson project car that was in FL, and the F-nelli (rosso/tan) car, that was in CA. I passed on the project car, due to the enormous amount of work, the car would have required. With these cars, you do not have a lot of inventory on the market.
Peter/Tony: Can you guys enlighten me as to when they stopped using he LP400 steering wheel. Was that only for the 1978 cars?? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have yet to see a 79 with the lp400 wheel. Anyone have photos of 79's. I have standard seat belts in mine
