Crallscars, visit Garage Journal, which has a forum just on floors. I think you will be encouraged toward ceramic tiles (visit the thread "12 gauge garage." the tiles stand up well to jacks, dropped tools. As to white, I don't think white ceramic tiles will stain or discolor. White epoxy might yellow over time, especially if exposed to some sunlight. I used white ceramic for several years with no discoloration and am using a combination of epoxy and tiles in my current garage. My preference is for white, because cars stand out on them. The 12-gauge garage I mentioned is Jack Olsen's, and he makes a strong case for tiles for working garages. If I had read his thread earlier, I would have used tile in my working area instead of epoxy. I used white tiles for the parking area, and they look quite good I think. Thanks. I'm happy you like it. Ultimately, it is a very plain garage, but it's the white floor that makes it (and the cars on the floor) interesting. Here is the junction between the tiled area and the epoxy floor. That is ceramic tile, 60cmx60cm (which may be too wide for yse in a working garage), but the grouting is white, so it is difficult to see the cracks. In time, the grouting will be more obvious. You are absolutely correct. But, your garage is still proof that sometimes less is more (if I'm using that correctly). Stunning with or without cars in it.
I have one on order, should be delivered any day now. Anyone have experience with putting a 4 post lift on top of snap together tiles like race deck? I want to bolt the lift down, would it be best to just drill through the tile for the bolts and have the lift resting on top or to cut the tile out around the posts and have the lift resting on the concrete?
cut the tile and have the lift on the concrete. Otherwise over time the lift will squash and deform the tile underneath. The tile can also cover the lift post pad and bolts and will look cleaner.
Thanks, Kevin. Actually, oil and other spills wipe off very easily; the floors have been quite easy to maintain. I have had ceramic tiles and epoxy floors for several years before the renovation. The covered car in the picture is an MG TC, which, being English, leaks as a matter of right. The possibility of a large spill on a Racedeck or similar floor, with oil or liquid seeping between the tles and collecting below, is what kept me from that system. It must be very difficult to keep the seams clean in a working garage, with grease and dirt getting into the cracks. I have a friend who has done art work for this fellow, and if I'm not mistaken, there is more than one of those garage arcades within that atrium.

I am not 100% sure mate as I have forgotten all the details and I still cant find the pics I originally had saved from here a while ago. I think an Fchatter actually took those pics when he went to his house. I have a feeling I remember the name, but I better not post incase I am wrong.
