Parked cars are actually social animals and no matter how many times you park in a nice empty area somebody will park right next to you.

Happens to my family and I all the time. Sometimes we have not even got out of the car and a car zooms up and then we have to negotiate the whole door opening sequence ... which negates the whole point of us parking there in the first place.

Next time it happens, I'm going to start up the car again and move to see their reaction ;).

It happens to me all the time

There must be some psychological reason for it.

There is. Here is what went through their head when they saw your Ferrari in the lot.

"Look at this guy, bet he thinks he's just the greatest and loves to show it off. I'm stuck here in a mini van because I decided to spend the last twenty years making bad decisions like, spending my money on coke that I sniffed off my 300 pound girlfriends fat ass and then I knocked her up and decided to forget working hard, it's only about oppression anyway. He has probably never worked a day in his life! I can barely think in here with all the disposable diapers strewn about and stinking up the van. Look at that car, he is probably in there buying hundreds of dollars worth of good food for his family. Doesn't he know I am suffering? Oh, that reminds me, must pick up beer so I can tolerate my kids just one more day. I know what I am going to do! I will show him! I will park so close to his door he won't be able to get in his car from that side. He will know I do not like him because he thinks he's better than me. I am like Robin hood for god sake! Others will see my act of defiance and my incredibly lame existence of my own making will not seem like such a waste!. "

Sorry, hate people who think they can judge others by the babble that goes though their brain.

There is a reason. Ferrari is an sign of $$$. Using one as a common driver is viewed as you are just too rich. (You know, one of those rich bastards that aren't paying their fair share of taxes.) So, you get the, "I'll show you attitude".....parking too close, getting cut off on the roads.......some jerk wants to race on the road...etc...

I wonder if Lamborghini drivers get this kind of treatment?

Which goes to show how stupid the general population is because "rich" people pay more taxes than non-rich

Thanks, Mike. Sadly though, I have a difficult time recalling what the car looks like without the cover on. I need to drive it more often... :)

Get the corner spot, where you can park closest to the edge (careful with the rims though).

I don't own Ferrari, but someone parked even stepping over the parking stall lane to get close to my Porsche... I really don't know what it is, but these people have issues.

Oh so it clearly must be the OP's fault because he parked in the farthest spot from the front door, with 100+ empty spaces in between, and yet he put his car too close to the line. His fault? Really??! This is a simple issue of some butthead intentionally parking there to block his driver door. Go stir up **** somewhere else.

I've got to agree with you there. This was not an accident. People don't accidentally select a space way out there next to a lone Ferrari and park 6 inches away.

VanMan was intentionally trying to be a prick. He obviously noticed that you had a very special car and that you were treating it very carefully by parking it way out in the hinterland. Without a doubt, he also realized that you were parking it way out there to protect it from buttholes like him.

I'd guess he took exception to being made to feel like one of the aforementioned buttholes that you're trying to protect your car from and he chose to be a jerk about it. He was probably muttering something like "so, you think your Ferrari is too good to park next to the rest of us eh? Well f-you...."

If you're referring to my post, I didn't say it was his fault at all. I said exactly what I meant to say, no more, no less... and that is: that he didn't help himself very much by parking that close to the line in the first place. Just makes it easier for someone to ding you, or do exactly what we see here.

I'm referring to any who might be insinuating it's the OP's fault that the minivan driver decided to be ******. It's not my intent to offend or provoke. I just get a little sideways when I see people being taken advantage of, or victimized in some way, and then end up getting blamed for it by some outside observer/s who *would have done something oh so slightly different* than the victim did. I've seen this sort of thing snowball out of control on this forum.

In this case, I would be willing to bet $ that if the OP would have parked dead center in that space, this clown would still have parked as close as he could, simply because he wanted to be ******.

If that were the case, I'd be 100% right there along with you. Otherwise, how do we know this isn't a case of not one, but two people simply not paying attention to what they were doing?

I've parked in rows of nothingess before in nondescript vehicles, never mind an exotic, only to come out & find a car parked right next to me... WTF is up with that? The poster who joked about parked vehicles being social creatures wasn't really far off.

I also think that sometimes if people care about their cars, they're more likely to park next to a nice car than a trashed one... they think: "This guy has a nice car, so he probably is cautious with his, and will be careful not to door-ding me". If you look at that minivan, it appears to be in excellent condition in the pics, so maybe they were thinking that same thing.

I, of course, could be wrong, but unless there's some evidence of malicious intent, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. If this were some beat-to-hell junker next to his car, I'd be more inclined to think they were being douscheebags on purpose. It's not, though, so I tend to think they just weren't paying attention to how poorly they parked.

wow this thread is really becoming something. I think the OP is a little off the wall. Really, how many people take pics of their car when they park it and then if you really look at the pics, he didnt park that far away from everyone. Theres a pickup not that far away and a blue car right behind. So many people entertaining this guy something like the Tony348 stolen car thing.....wheres he now....in jail maybe?
