Adrian Sutil apparently Stabbed the owner of Genii-Capital, the owner of Renault F1

Eric Lux, chief executive of Genii Capital, which owns Lotus Renault was left bloodied after the scrape with Formula One driver Adrian Sutil in a China nightclub.

A Lotus Renault team spokesman confirmed that an incident occurred involving Lux, but wouldn't be drawn on the details.

"Lotus Renault GP is, however, not in a position to make any comments, as it is a private matter between Eric and the other person."

Sutil reportedly injured Lux with a glass during the altercation, that left Lux with blood streaming down his neck.

The Force India driver has released a statement claiming the injury was accidental.

"At the event, which I attended as a private person, something happened which was a very unfortunate action on my part," he said.

"I injured another person completely unintentionally."

"I regret the incident very much and have apologised. As it is a private matter with no connection to F1 or my job as an F1 driver I hope you will understand that I will not answer any more questions on this."

Sutil's friend Lewis Hamilton was rushed out of the same room by his bodyguards moments later.

No charges have yet been laid and Formula One's governing body, the FIA, are not expected to investigate the matter.

Breaking a bottle and going for someone's throat is serious business... in many places, that would be aggravated assault with serious intent or worse. It's also the sign of a very troubled mind.

Assuming he did do it and did it in anger, the guy needs to be put away for a while... breaking a bottle and going for the throat ain't like pushing someone who grabbed your GF's butt.

 

I was thinking the same thing, the big sites Planet F1, Autosport, etc. have not reported it yet. But what an idiot this guy is.

 

somehow i don't think he broke a bottle and intentionally went for his throat. even in china you will get arrested for such things, i mean that's attempted murder.

 

I read several F1 news feeds on Twitter report it, and he reportedly issued an apology. I'm confused why this isn't out there more (if true).

 

Surprising. I thought Alonso and Schumi were the most cut-throat drivers in F1...

The Chinese GP was 2 weeks ago...and Adrian Sutil raced in Turkey last Sunday. I guess there were no charges against him?

If it was a serious offense, why wasn't he fired from Force India, or F1 altogether within the last month?

 

The behavior and assault are unpardonable, but we do not 100% know what was really happening inside a dark VIP Club room, let's wait and see what Sutil and Hamilton have to say?

That's what I thought too. I feel like a lot of stories that originate in a "nightclub" are twisted or false. People boozing, loud music and little light doesn't help to make any story clear.

 

sutil already said, that he won't say anymore about the situation, because it is a private matter and has nothing to do with his professional career.
